  1. Hey! Congrats everyone who got accepted! I'm currently a 3rd sem student at USG. I just got a notification that the new cohort will have online orientation first week of December. There will be some student panelist so get ready to ask questions. If someone can start a new facebook group for your incoming cohort with the full-time student expected graduation date: "UMSON-USG class of Fall 2022." This allows you all to start connecting with each other and peer leaders from upper semesters. Edit: Sorry realized the link IS for the new cohort. FYI the cohort names are usually expected date of graduation so "UMSON-USG Class of Fall 2022" to avoid confusion.
  2. @gromer Hi, current UMSON student. You are right, it is competitive. If you haven't yet, schedule an appointment with the admissions counselor. I think they're very honest and will help guide you best. For example, I had a weak overall GPA (it was about 2.8 or 2.9) but my science was good (around 3.75-3.8). I was told by admissions that my overall GPA was not competitive. They suggested that I score high on TEAS to help me. So I studied very hard and got 99th percentile for TEAS. Additionally, I have years of relevant experience which also worked in my favor. TBH, I think improving your science GPA would ultimately be to your advantage just cause nursing school is science heavy and builds on all the sciences on a more critical thinking level especially A&P. Best Wishes.
  3. If you have a good grasp on A&P the Patho classes are not that hard. It might at times seem time consuming. I haven’t taken 410 but 310 was pretty straight forward if you read the material. I will say, get on Evolve, create a free student account and download the free resource for “Understanding Pathophysiology 6th Edition,” “Lehne’s Pharmacology for Nursing Care 10th Edition,” “Medical Surgical Nursing 10th Edition” because they have plenty of practice questions if you want a preview of what’s to come. adding a link: https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/store?role=student
  4. Hi, I’m in AllBetsOff cohort. Can confirm. I worked 16 hour/week during 1st semester but since 2nd semester is way more material heavy, I went down to work once a month just so I could focus on school and get the grades I want. Seemed like a better investment for me as I have a long history of work experience. There are still people in our cohort who worked weekly part time schedules. Just know yourself and what you want and be okay with what you choose for yourself. Congratulations to those who got in Fall 2020. Sure is a weird time to be doing nursing but we got this!
  5. @allbetsoff Yep. They told me to fill out the online form to change status. https://www.umaryland.edu/registrar/residency/

  7. @mellovesnursing Yes!! You seem very passionate about this and I hope you continue to have that! I took two weeks to study for at least four hours everyday. I used the mometrix and actually paid for the two online practice test only because I was told I’d have a better chance if I scored well on my TEAS due to my low cumulative GPA. I’d just take and retake the book test, timing myself the first time, and then focus study on one section at a time. For the online test if you choose to do that, screenshot every qestion with rationale b/c they only give you limited access to the exam. Even questions I got correct, I’d rationalize to my self why it it the correct option. Practice seeing the patterns in how questions are asked and the options given to help you narrow down the correct choice. And because I am admittedly a person who doesn’t study well using books, I made myself a playlist of videos while going thru prereqs that I would play before bed to refresh my science for TEAS. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKHGlVIEBgSFQ7NLvC4OBQQ Mometrix also made TEAS specific videos but they’re really dry. During practice test I’d get in the 80’s range but I ended up getting a 92 on my TEAS. Hope this gives you ideas on how to study again. I really needed the TEAS to get in as I have a history of being on academic probation if that gives you an idea of how bad my GPA was. Best wishes to you!
  8. @mellovesnursing I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope you continue on this journey and not get discouraged. do you plan on reapplying or improving your TEAS?
  9. Ha! I have no idea but I imagine they were probably stuffing envelopes as they changed status. So however long snail mail takes. FOR NEW FOLKS: Mind sharing your stats/background?
  10. I think everyone is just finding out via status change on the application site for now. I believe they will mail a physical letter a week after your status changes online. In the meantime, I’m going to guess that they’ll direct you to this link: https://www.nursing.umaryland.edu/admissions/accepted/ Best wishes everyone!! Looking forward to meeting our cohort!
  11. I got admitted into Shady Grove!! So excited!

  13. I had all my stuff submitted by Jan 28. My status changed to “committee ready” today. Positive vibes to everyone!! ? Edit: In the email about verifying location they stated, “If you wish to change your selection you must respond to this email by Wednesday, March 20th. Changes will not be made after this.” Was that the same date for everyone? I assumed my status would change today because of that deadline they provided.
  14. Yep just came here to release anxiety cause I just read that email too.
  15. I would think a pharm tech background is just as competitive. Med management is just as important in nursing. You’ll bring in a different experience to the cohort! You’ll probably do really well in the pharmacology classes because you’d be more familiar with generic/brand names, classifications, doing pharm math... things you don’t necessarily learn as a CNA.
