UMSON Baltimore/Shady Grove BSN FALL 2019

Hi All! I wanted to see who has applied for UMSON for the fall 2019 Semester. I have applied for the Baltimore campus. I am very nervous, as I retook two classes, so my current overall GPA of 3.75 will go down to a 3.3 as they factor that in. For an overall science GPA, mine is an 3.8. On the TEAS, I received a 73.3 overall, Having and 82 on the reading, and 87 on math. I also have experience at a nursing home that I currently work at now. Has any one else applied? Which campus? I have also heard that UMSON takes long to get back and most won't hear until April. I turned in my application on Jan 29., and I keep looking like they would have already said something hahah. Hope to hear back soon!

The application anxiety is real. This is the only I school applied to. What about y’all?

Same for me. People always ask why I only applied for one school but these program prereqs always have 1 different class than all the other ones and I didn’t feel like taking a whole semester just to take those outlier classes and risk my GPA. I really hope I get the merit or the Conway Scholarship but idk if they give those to people who have pending classes

I hear they extend deadlines when they don’t get enough competitive applicants, but hey who knows why ! Deadline extensions are common with UMSON, I will say that. I had a friend apply for the Spring 2019 semester and they had a deadline extension as well.

I heard it could also be because rhe government shutdown so not everyone could get the forms they needed or something along those lines. But the applicant thing sounds right also. I applied for the conway scholarship as well

I applied to two technically, but the other one was just my community college i’m at now and I did it just because it was free. But I feel like UMSON is the only one i’m considering. It’s the only school is really seem to like!

I was thinking of applying to my Community College’s nursing program but their passing rates are horrible

oh really? my community college is FCC. I have actually heard good things about it but as you know it’s definitely not my first choice. Did you ever think of applying somewhere else?

I actually go to PGCC, and their nursing program is kind of falling off in terms of passing rates. I could’ve applied to Bowie but that includes taking an extra computer class. I figured I’d just take my chances and stick strictly to UMSON and put all my eggs in one basket ? Not the best idea but I was just looking forward to the fact that I’d only have 3 classes this semester !?

Does anyone know when decisions will be made?

I feel sick to my stomach every time I think about it ??

Edit- yes I applied to the Conway. fingers crossed ? I also applied to Towson University's BSN program and CCBCs ATB program

i wish i had applied to towson as well but before i even thought about it the deadline was so close, and I believe i needed one more class to apply. your stats are great!

Hey! Great stats! From what I know we won’t hear anything about getting in until April :( But your status on surfs can change before that and I heard sometimes they call you to confirm which campus you wanna be on! All I know so far

yeah, UMSON was a last minute thing for me when I found out about the Conway scholarship. my stats are good, but I applied a semester early and would have to take about 9 credits in the summer. I spoke to someone, and if I get accepted, I would have to speak to someone about special circumstances. Still, I figured it was worth a shot.

Hi! definitely love having more people on the thread so we can freak out together! Your stats are well rounded! I wish I applied to towson also, but I was really just stuck on UMSON. Definitely keep me updated with everything!
