UMSON Baltimore/Shady Grove BSN FALL 2019

Published

Hi All! I wanted to see who has applied for UMSON for the fall 2019 Semester. I have applied for the Baltimore campus. I am very nervous, as I retook two classes, so my current overall GPA of 3.75 will go down to a 3.3 as they factor that in. For an overall science GPA, mine is an 3.8. On the TEAS, I received a 73.3 overall, Having and 82 on the reading, and 87 on math. I also have experience at a nursing home that I currently work at now. Has any one else applied? Which campus? I have also heard that UMSON takes long to get back and most won't hear until April. I turned in my application on Jan 29., and I keep looking like they would have already said something hahah. Hope to hear back soon!

Stats:

Bachelors degree in Criminal justice
Undergrad GPA: 3.7
Current Science GPA: 4.0
Three Pre-reqs in progress: GenChem, Stat, Nutrition
TEAS Score: 75%

Background: Customer service, prior experience as a volunteer EMT

Woah!! I just got it, how didn’t I know this was a thing?? Thank you!

So if we got provisionally admitted do y'all know if we should pay the 400 dollar deposit and the confirmation form, or do we wait until we officially get accepted? Should we wait until we get the letter? I am overthinking it now lol

I'm pretty sure we wait until we get the letter because I think the letter has information on how to create your student email address and other stuff that you probably need to use when you pay through a secure portal

Hey just taking a break from my all-nighter to let everyone know chemistry sucks. Thanks ❤️

Yes!! You seem very passionate about this and I hope you continue to have that!

I took two weeks to study for at least four hours everyday. I used the mometrix and actually paid for the two online practice test only because I was told I’d have a better chance if I scored well on my TEAS due to my low cumulative GPA. I’d just take and retake the book test, timing myself the first time, and then focus study on one section at a time. For the online test if you choose to do that, screenshot every qestion with rationale b/c they only give you limited access to the exam. Even questions I got correct, I’d rationalize to my self why it it the correct option. Practice seeing the patterns in how questions are asked and the options given to help you narrow down the correct choice.

And because I am admittedly a person who doesn’t study well using books, I made myself a playlist of videos while going thru prereqs that I would play before bed to refresh my science for TEAS. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKHGlVIEBgSFQ7NLvC4OBQQ Mometrix also made TEAS specific videos but they’re really dry. During practice test I’d get in the 80’s range but I ended up getting a 92 on my TEAS.

Hope this gives you ideas on how to study again. I really needed the TEAS to get in as I have a history of being on academic probation if that gives you an idea of how bad my GPA was.

Best wishes to you!

wow thank you so much! yes, i ended up getting an A somewhere in the Reading and math sectioned, but really completely bombed the science and got a low C in the writing. I really only studied a few days so this really helps a lot and I appreciate the advice a ton !! You are right, also about the grades. I mean mine are okay but I don’t have a complete 4.0 so having a higher teas score will definitely look good. I really wish the best of luck to you in your nursing journey!(:

Thank you so much! Good luck to you too and right back at you. Are you going to applying again or try to improve something or have you thought of other schools?

I just checked my informed delivery and my letter will be in the mail today!
