UMET @ Interamerican- Fall 2014

World US Territories

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and looking for other students that will be applying to bilingual nursing programs in Puerto Rico. I am looking at UMET & Interamerican University. I was hoping we could help each other out throughout the application process, provide each other with tips and feedback and/or any advice on applying, relocation, nclex questions, etc..

A little about me: I live in NYC and taking my pre-requisites at a local community college. I submitted my applications to both UMET and Inter. I still need to send them my transcripts and course descriptions. so far I have gotten good responses from the directors at both schools, set up appts for campus tours next month. Will keep everyone posted.

Anyone else applying for next year??

I started my term in Feb and took the last of my GE's that I needed including spanish and Hx of PR and started the accelerated in Aug with the rest of the group. So you can try that too.

Thanks,

I was at La inter on the 26th and 27th. I signed up for the accelerated program and am going to take the classes at a later date. You motivated me to make the move there.

I will be looking for an apartment (July 26th thru Aug 1) I am looking at the Tao Baja area as well for renting - I have an real estate agent that will hopefully help out to find something safe and affordable. Hope it all works out for everyone starting in August.

Where did u find the agent? Also, how far is that area from UMET? Thanks dz.

I took all my pre reqs in fl including all of my science classes but it is offered in Umet.

dz,

have you spoken to the real estate agent lately?

The director of the program had a real estate contact that had helped students find apartments if they needed help. I have emailed her and she has responded. I will email her again a week prior to my arrival. I believe the Tao Baja area I want is only 5-10 miles away from UMET. But I am open to other areas as well. Safe and Affordable is what I am looking for. But it looks like rent in PR is very reasonable. dz

Hi Amanda, I just sent her an email, she responded quickly last time, considering I will need the place at the end of this month, hopefully she can line up some apartments for me to see on July 26th. dz

Does anyone have an address for UMET? Something that can be typed into GPS. I emailed the director but she sends me the mailing address. I will be driving to Bayamon. Thanks :)

Visited umet and not what I expected :( director was on vacation and couldn't even get a tour. Seemed like they don't know much about the program . Went to registrar and they wouldn't review my transcripts because they are from New York and they said the transfer course process is more complicated. Very disappointed. Complete opposite than what I've been reading . I think mainly due to the fact that the director wasn't there. :(

I feel like I really wasted my time visiting the campus. Some people told me the process was super easy and the director signed them up right away . That was def not my experience. They didn't even look at any of my documents.

nycgirl,

yea you definitely needed to have spoken with the director before going to visit. Im sorry

that it wasn't what you expected. are you back from Puerto Rico already? Id suggest leaving your

documents with admissions and if you decide to move, you can register for classes up to the 1st day

of school, which is aug 20th. Its too bad that you missed the director, but I can tell you that the labs are

pretty cool!

I was coming here anyway to visit my parents but wanted to stop by to check out the school. I didn't know she was gonna be away until after I booked my ticket and I def think the crappy visit was due to her not being there. I won't be coming back for a whole so it sux but I will email get to let her know about the visit. It was almost no one knew what they were doing it sucked. I was not impressed at all and left discouraged . Thanks for replying :)
