Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the site and looking for other students that will be applying to bilingual nursing programs in Puerto Rico. I am looking at UMET & Interamerican University. I was hoping we could help each other out throughout the application process, provide each other with tips and feedback and/or any advice on applying, relocation, nclex questions, etc..
A little about me: I live in NYC and taking my pre-requisites at a local community college. I submitted my applications to both UMET and Inter. I still need to send them my transcripts and course descriptions. so far I have gotten good responses from the directors at both schools, set up appts for campus tours next month. Will keep everyone posted.
Anyone else applying for next year??
Hello Fellow Future RN's,
Anyone applying to UMET or Inter (English BSN Programs) for 2014. Im in the process of getting my applications together. Currently live in NYC. Was hoping we could exchange info on schools, tips, and support each other through the application process. Hope to hear from you...

Hello NYCgirl - I am applying for the program in the Fall as well - I am from Texas - I have contacted "E"via email at Inter. however, I was told it was "too early" to go visit - that's why I was waiting for April. I have a BS in Science and have been working as a hospital RT for a few years. I also started a thread for a support system before I saw your thread. I have applied via the web -but have only sent my BS transcripts I still need to send the course descriptions and my immunization records - I also have asked for help with the police dept. background check.
I replied at your other thread - I am visiting in April to finish my application process, hope to rent a place near the beach and commute in. I am thinking of shipping my car from Houston. Hopefully we can connect to other students moving to PR for the programs.

Hi dzcafe, good to hear from you. Funny you're from TX because im dying to move there, hopefully soon as im done with school. I visted San Antonio and loved it but would like to like to live in Houston too. anyway, im hoping to visit in the spring too. hopefilly all goes well. im applying to schools in NYC first and if that does not work out then i will def. move out to PR. im weighing out my options first. Do you have family in PR? my parents live there.
Hi NYCgirl - I have a friend that has family in PR - but I have no family in PR - but that has usually been my work history. Yes Houston is a very international city with a lot to offer in the Medical Center and many nursing aspects. I have worked with a few of the hospitals here and the VA hospital as well. I was accepted in a Kansas City program - but its far more expensive than the PR program. So I have weigh my options. Luckily I am working bilingual so the clinical's should be okay.
NYCgirl305 - how is your process going? I had to submit some documents and still waiting on my admission approval. when are you planning to visit the school?
Spoke with La Intra Admissions this morning, they are actually questioning my college accreditation, it's crazy. I am having to submit all kinds of documents to them..seriously, if you google the college it tells you all the information...whatever,it took almost 2 month to get a call from them.
So I was upset and sent an email to UMET about their program, after my email - I was able to speak to the director 30 minutes later....what a difference in customer service, they may not have an accelerated program, but it may be worth the extra time looking into their program.
wow, thats terrible. i hope all goes well. some schools can be very unoragnized but im sure things will turn out ok. I have actually postponed the PR process and decided to focus on part time nurisng programs in NY first. After I did the math I decided it would be cheaper to stay home and keep my job. I will be applying to 4 schools here that have evening/weekend programs so I can continue to work. PR will be my last option if it does not work out here. But I wish you the best of luck. I have heard much better reviews from UMET as well and have gotten better and faster reponses from them as well. dont give up, im sure u will hear back from them soon. keep me posted
