UMET @ Interamerican- Fall 2014

World US Territories

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and looking for other students that will be applying to bilingual nursing programs in Puerto Rico. I am looking at UMET & Interamerican University. I was hoping we could help each other out throughout the application process, provide each other with tips and feedback and/or any advice on applying, relocation, nclex questions, etc..

A little about me: I live in NYC and taking my pre-requisites at a local community college. I submitted my applications to both UMET and Inter. I still need to send them my transcripts and course descriptions. so far I have gotten good responses from the directors at both schools, set up appts for campus tours next month. Will keep everyone posted.

Anyone else applying for next year??

If I had come to visit just for the school I would of been so ****** off but luckily I was on vacation. I was def surprised I was not able to get any help or more information . I guess the director is the only competent one there which is a shame but at least I got to visit the school even if the experience was not helpful at all

in my experience, admissions was very helpful. I also saw other students being

helped by other people, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Again, it does suck that

you couldn't talk to her, but I'm sure others are just as competent.

Thanks I did try but I was only directed to registrar which was not helpful because they wouldn't review my paperwork. I'm sure things would have gone more smoothly if the director was there. I'm just referring to the fact that I thought I would get more accomplished and there would be someone there to at least help me get started while the director was out. I'm sure it's a great program I just wish I would had a better visit. Thanks for ur input and best of luck in your studies

I called the Director's office twice before i booked my ticket. I also setup an appointment to see her the day after I landed. I did the same with U Inter. I can tell you that there was a big difference in the organization at UMET. I did not get the same feeling at U Inter. UMET already had my file, transcripts, etc. But U. Inter had noting. It was mailed to both on the same day (90 days ago) from my high school! U Inter will not accept CLEP anymore. So, unless you had college level Spanish and English classes before, you will have to take 3 classes on each.

I am sorry that you had a bad experience. Thank you for sharing.

My transcripts were not transferred until almost a yr later! Lol mainly because I forgot to send two transcripts but I just took the classes I knew I didn't have mostly nursing classes.

I am going to PR to visit umet & inter on August 8 and leaving the 11th. I plan on taking my transcripts for both universities to review. I tried calling and don't get return calls from either school. I may be dialing the wrong number. I see others have had luck reaching the schools. Can you tell me what numbers you called?

Really appreciate the help!

I have made it to PR and looking for a place to rent...its been difficult because of a 4 day holiday here. no one is answering there phones....Hopefully it will be better today. I will go visit the director and school too this week. Making sure everything is a go for Aug. 20th.

Try clasificadospr.com. It has rentals listed on that site. Also cars for sale if you're looking for that as well.

Jen,

Did you talk to the person in charge of evaluating your transcripts?

I hope it doesn't take that long..Im trying to get more in loans and because

Im a first year in the system..I can't.

Hello. I am a UMET graduate and I passed my boards. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Hii Jen, they do RN to MSN there??

Yes in Cupey campus you can take the train there. It's a lady who does the "international" transcripts

thanks jen_jen I did that already. I was told that its going to take some time. I didn't

want to take the loans where interest accumulates while in school (subsidized, I think),

but I think I may have to because I can only get 3,500 as a first year student..so part has to

be subsidized/part unsubsidized. Oh well..at least the interest is only 4 percent..I just hope it doesn't

take a year...
