UMET @ Interamerican- Fall 2014

World US Territories

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and looking for other students that will be applying to bilingual nursing programs in Puerto Rico. I am looking at UMET & Interamerican University. I was hoping we could help each other out throughout the application process, provide each other with tips and feedback and/or any advice on applying, relocation, nclex questions, etc..

A little about me: I live in NYC and taking my pre-requisites at a local community college. I submitted my applications to both UMET and Inter. I still need to send them my transcripts and course descriptions. so far I have gotten good responses from the directors at both schools, set up appts for campus tours next month. Will keep everyone posted.

Anyone else applying for next year??

Just for clarification, UMET is the University of Turabo right? I have been trying to contact them but they are not responding. They keep hanging up on me. I believe I applied but I am not sure because the application was so short. It was more like a survey. Can someone please send me the link if they have it. Also I saw there was only 52 credits for the nursing section. Am I the only one seeing that?

UMET - Bayamon - ask to speak with the director of the English nursing program. The nursing classes are in the evening only. You can also find the website for more instructions via google..

Just the pre reqs...and a GPA of above 2.5.

hello cherrie,

sorry for the late post. i actually decided to finish my RN in New York so I dont have much info. sorry

I have a question:

1) I plan to continue with my masters in nursing when i return to California. Has anyone done that on these forums? Did you have trouble transferring over your core classes like anatomy, physio, micro that you did with Inter?

Hi, yáll. My name is Carlos, I am finishing my first year at UMET Bilingual Program. We have been doing our clinicals at the VA. You will get to do you clinicals don't worry about that. A person can get their nursing done here pretty quick and faculty does a good job of advocating for its students.

If you have any questions, I'm here!!!

Hi Carlos, I am thinking of starting at UMET Bayamon or Inter this August 2014, could you please describe your experience in a bit more detail? What has your first year been like? The furthest i have been from home is from southern california to northern california, so i am a bit nervous about relocating.

I also need clarification on the classes getting cancelled, i read on here somewhere that if enough students dont show up for UMET class, they cancel it til next semester? Is this still true for 2013-2014 year?

Is there a website where UMET current or prospective students can be reached at (a facebook page maybe?)

So it seems everyone is in the middle of finals which is why the lack of responses? I have one very urgent question:

[h=2]Certificado de Antecedentes Penales‏ - I sent my online request to the PR.gov police website, it was submitted on 5/19, I called the police department today and i was told they have up to 60,000 applicants they have to process.... On the other hand, i was told i can receive the results in the same day if i showed up in person. I had no intention to go to PR way before my class registration, but i need to ask any current/former students if you had to go to the Police Dept. yourself to obtain this because the online version will never be received in the short amount of time (even though their website says 7-14 business days).

I need this urgent because i have a prior DUI on my record and It would be a waste to start the program then be unable to attend clinicals... Please Help :(....

UMET campus told me i dont have to worry, it wont show up, but INTER on the other hand is constantly transferring me to one admissions person to the next nursing staff etc...

Hello, has anyone actually completed the application process and received an acceptance letter from UMET?? seems like most people are still in the process. Would like to know how the process went and if you encountered any challenges during the process?

Thanks so much

I have received an acceptance letter for Umet. The process

was not difficult at all, just have the pre-reqs done and a 2.5 gap.

Thank you amguzman :) have you gotten information regarding it will be an issue to take the Nclex and get your license in the states?

yes I have. You can take the nclex in any state you reside,

its not an issue at all. I am learning though that some states consider Puerto Rico

as international, so some have gone through Wisconsin.
