UMass Amherst 2020 ABSN

Updated:   Published

Hello,

I am starting this forum for the UMass Amherst 2020 Spring start. Has anyone else finished their application yet?

I have a 3.06 cumulative GPA and a 3.21 GPA from the school I graduated with my bachelors from.

We are supposed to recieve admissions decisions in March 2020 but I hope they dont make us wait that long.

I'm still waiting to hear back as well!

So I checked this morning and I was accepted! Not sure I'm going to accept as I have been accepted to Case Western's grad entry program and I'm still waiting on GWU and Duke...I am nervous about living in Springfield. I don't know why I didnt realize it was all in Springfield instead of Amherst? Can anyone offer me support about the area? I have heard that in prior years some students have had to go up to 60 miles for clinicals...is that boston area? Congrats to everyone who has been accepted.

I'm still waiting. Ever so patiently... not

??‍♀️Me too, freaking out

For those who got accepted was the spire account updated or no ?

No, they didn't update it. They only sent a link in the email to pay the $500 deposit.

still waiting too!

I don't know anything about Spire. I just got the email giving me the date I needed to let them know by and the 500 fee.

OctaviaF, Congrats! I am originally from Amherst but now live closer to Springfield, so I have a good amount of knowledge of the area. Springfield does have its good and bad parts as with many other cities. The sixteen acres area of Springfield is very nice and quiet for the most part. PLus side to being in Springfield is that it is much cheaper than Amherst. Also, you could look into living in towns and cities near Springfield. The program is right off the highway so its easily accessible from other areas such as West Springfield (not apart of the city of Springfield, but just over the bridge. Its a nice safe city), Agawam, Chicopee, South Hadley etc.

Don’t worry all, just keep an eye out. And @OctaviaF and @NurseRME I also live in the area, Chicopee and you’ll be fine. Like mentioned above, every city has its good and bad, but since you’ll be there for school you’ll be fine. Not like you’ll be out and apart of the night life every weekend etc. the cost of living is relatively ideal compared to areas like Amherst, South Hadley areas. So no worries.
congrats you you both as well, and everyone else! Excited to meet you all in August!

I’m also debating on my admission to Umass, I really wanna wait to see what their financial aid package looks like as far as scholarships and all, I don’t wanna take out too much in loans!

@OctaviaF congrats! I work for AMR Springfield so I’m pretty familiar with what’s good and not a good place to live. Let me know if you have any questions!
