UM ABSN SPRING 2019

Published

Hi guys!

I'm currently completing my undergrad+prereqs to apply in the next year to UM's ABSN program for the Spring 2019 session (Apps due next august). I know it's a very premature thread but I thought there might be other applicants for the Spring 2019 session who are already freaking out about apps like me. If any students who were accepted for previous threads could share their experience, tips, or stats here that would be incredibly helpful.

We got this.

Yea please share stats cause I applied and had everything verified February 11th and mine still says incomplete. I called admissions earlier today and mentioned that people were hearing responses already with applications being verified at the end of May and that made no sense to me. They said you can't compare yourself to other applicants but that's a little difficult to do when it's supossed to be a rolling decision base with first come first serve admissions...

Hi @_nursekay and @future_dnp

I also applied just after on June 4th. Mine still says incomplete. But thats crazy fast! Do you both mind telling me what your stats are and volunteer/work experience?

I have a 3.58 overall, a 3.62 for prerequisites (not including microbiology), and my last 60 credits GPA is a 3.9. I've been working as a CNA for a year now and I also completed a 400 hour internship as an inpatient rehabilitation aide. I'm wicked surprised at how quick everything processed - I was expecting a lot longer of a wait!

Where can you check your status on canelink if app is complete/incomplete?

Go to Main menu- self service- student admission - application status

So if application is incomplete, that just means that they haven't made a decision yet?

Yes, I believe so

Thanks for sharing! I'm hoping I get lucky and get a complete by next week. Keeping my fingers crossed that my volunteer and work experience are enough to buffer my 3.46 GPA. :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

Also, for those whose status changed to "complete." Did you receive an email first? or did you happen to check canelink and see a status change?

I just checked and saw it. No email except for the "we've received your application" one.

Speaking of that "we've received your application" email...did anyone else think their wording of that email was so cruel by starting it with "we're pleased to inform you..." that's literally the only thing I saw in my inbox preview and got super hyped over nothing haha

3.5 GPA, i've worked as a medical scribe, a surgical tech and a medical assistant for a neurologist. Before I started working I was volunteering in local hospitals. Not the strongest gpa and background but we'll see! Good luck everyone! :)

Thanks for sharing! I think you have great potential with the amount of experience you have for sure! 3.5 sounds a lot better than my 3.46 :cat: Since we both applied within days of each other and are both still incomplete. I suspect that we may both be in the next round, and would switch to complete in 2 weeks or so. Or not. Just a guess!

It seems to happen in 2-3 week increments as long as there are no other unusual circumstances.

I'm just trying to make sense of all the anxiety going on

good luck!
