UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE

Published

Hi People

I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.

I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.

I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!

Hi, please must one get a decision letter before she can be given a COS from sponsor and then apply for work Visa? Thanks

Please Can you get a COS before getting a decision letter?

is it 37 working days or including weekends?

did you message them while waiting or after being included in the queue you just waited for the DL?

thanks in advance

Hi trishking, it depends on your agency and employer. Some will issue you a CoS even without a DL, while some needs to have a DL first. What is your agency?

Thanks for the reply, my agency is barchester and dey have not told me anything yet, just want to know what I am dealing with, Thanks

Nope. Not necessarily. That is entirely dependent on your employer whether they will apply COS for you with or without DL (Decision Letter). COS can be given even without a decision letter and applying for a working visa doesn't need DL as well, just COS and a few other documents.

Best of luck!!

Thanks for the response really appreciate

Its working days, not calendar days.

You can confirm this by calling NMC. They have some of the nicest customer service representatives, IMHO. Pretty straight-forward in answering you and are really helpful.

Can someone give an indication of current processing times once your application has been placed in the que? Will I receive a decision letter by post or by email? If I have received a decision letter does this mean I can book the OSCE?

NMC clearly said that Decision Letters usually come within 40-70 working days. I think it will also depend on how busy they can get (increased number of applicants).

NMC will inform you (thru email) whether an assessment has been carried out in relation to your application and you can download your DL in the NMC portal. And yes, as soon as you receive your Decision Letter, you can book for your OSCE.

Best of Luck to you!

Anyone from LOUIS International? How soon did you get your COS after DL has been released?

I actually got my decision letter! Was placed on que Aug 16, was expecting feedback for more info as I did a fast track diploma program 15 years ago, but they didn't need it! Great timing too, just move to Oxford area from Canada and start work Monday in the John Radcliffe Hospital NICU!
