UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE

Published

Hi People

I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.

I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.

I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!

Good Afternoon Everyone, I am new to this site and have a question on the NMC CBT test. For those of you who have taken the test, were you able to use a calculator for the medication calculations. I am wondering if PearsonVue has a calculator on the computer for us to use?

Thanks for your help,

Tracy

Hi Gloriajessica

I had the same problem of having no maternity or paediatric experience. I managed to get some hours exposure to these areas through RN work (about 50hrs of each).

If your training is lacking in any of these areas the NMC you state this in your application. There are forms you will be able to download and get your employer to complete stating you have exposure to these areas.

Good luck

Thank you, that's great! Can you believe it (you probably can) I'm still waiting for the NMC to answer this question for me via email....

Your answers have all been helpful and reassuring, thanks!

Is anyone in London wanting to get together to study for the OSCE? I will be taking mine in early April. E-mail me at [email protected] if interested!

I passed the OSCE.......... It was so nerve wracking waiting the results!!!!

Congratulations..!

Hi.

The test center does not allow the use of calculators when taking the CBT test. Instead, you will be given a pen and paper where you can write your solutions..

Hi there, I am just new here.

I applied in one of the agencies here in the Philippines, going to the UK.

I am a nurse currently working in the Department of Health, the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for ensuring access to basic public health services by all Filipinos through the provision of quality health care and regulation of all health services and products.

I am wondering if the NMC will accept such work experience despite that it is not in a hospital setting.

I hope someone can enlighten me on this.

Thank you in advance.

Hi fellow nurses! I'm from Biñan City. I have submitted my documents to the NMC, and my application is under review at the moment. I have so many queries regarding the NMC process. I'd love to talk to anyone who is going through the same process as I am. Please send me an e-mail: [email protected] I'd love to hear from you guys. Godspeed! :)

Hi Guys!

I have my OSCE on the 18th & was wondering what others have worn? Back home I wear scrubs & bright purple crocs haha but don't have them here. I have a dark blue polo shirt & some dark blue pants to wear but am worried about my shoes. I really don't want to buy another pair just for the exam so I have a pair of trainer type things with a white rubber soles. Do you think they will be ok with them?

Thanks!!
