UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE

Published

Hi People

I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.

I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.

I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!

Im sorry to hear that. May I know the reason why they asked for more reference? I am bit worried too. I got my employer reference forms from only one employer. senior nurse and chief nurse. Hope wont encounter any problems

I think it's going to be ok for you . I provide one reference from india Whr I worked as nurse and two from uk. But thy need one more from india.

I see. I hope we get good news soon. Thanks

Hi...how many months will the police clearance be valid? I think I am already in the assessment stage since all my documents were noted with receive...i got NBI on April 28.

I think NBI police clearance is valid for 1 year

The NBI clearance is only valid for 3 MONTHS since issue and being received by the NMC. This goes for all police clearances. That's the only allowed time by the NMC for a police clearance to be valid even if it says otherwise on the form. They will ask you for a replacement if your clearance is beyond 3 months old.

Ya hope for best@@@

@ Hellsing:

I got mine March 9th 2015. Uploaded it NMC's online portal 14th of April 2015. Some of my docs like employer reference form, PRC verification noted received 3rd-4th week of May. The rest like school docs and declaration of good health were only noted received 3rd week of June. But I guess my forms were received earlier than the "noted" dates. Do you think I will encounter problems with my police clearance?

Also, would you know when is it possible to get the decision letter based on the above time frame?

Thank you

I got NBI last April 28. And uploaded to NMC portal on 1st week of May. All my documents were completed yesterday...where will the counting of 3 months would start?

Police Clearence valid for 3 month. They will ask if time goes up and place application in queue again.

Hello UK Gal

just wondering how your application is going? I am in a similar situation, I am English and lived in Australia and trained in Melbourne at Monash University and returned to UK November 2012. Since then it has been a continuous battle beginning with the IELTs. I questioned why non EU nurses had to take it when EU nurses did not. You can't win so I just paid the money to sit it to get the application process started. In November 2013 I received my decision letter stating I did not have the required number of hours. I have written to my MP and also had contact from The House Of commons about this, they replied to me stating that the NMC is an independent body and there is nothing that can be done - the whole process is just so insulting and pedantic. When the new system was launched I was ecstatic and certainly did not envisage another nightmare scenario but here I still am nearly ten months later. The latest contact was asking for hours for each unit I studied as on my transcript it just says credits which apparently is not acceptable. Does your degree certificate state hours next to your subject? Also the health form which was completed by The Occupational Health Department of the NHS Trust hospital where I worked needs to be re submitted to clarify if they were my employer?? I swear they just look for any little thing to prolong the process. This has caused me a great deal of stress over the years not to mention the loss of potential earnings. I am so close to giving up but my natural tenacious nature is spurring me along. Would love to hear back from you and to share stories. Wishing you lots of luch, all the best :)

Your police clearance is valid IF by the time all your documents have been received completely and you have been put in the assessment queue, your police clearance is still 3 months old. In order to know the date they have fully received all your documents, it's best to email them.

In my case, I got my clearance February 11, got an email from the NMC stating they have received all my documents April 28 (so still valid and within the time-frame) and they don't need any futher documentation because I'm in the assessment queue, and got my decision letter June 25th.

If you feel that your police clearance is beyond the 3 month period, I suggest getting a new one and sending it to them immediately after notifying them.
