Uic..... Help!

U.S.A. Illinois

Is anyone taking the BSN program at UIC? if so would you recommend it to a transfer student. Is it competitive to get in? what about the program itself? I am currently working on my pre-reqs in a community college and I would really appreciate your help:no:

Hi Icechick!

Oh, I'm not so sure if they let you know your place in line, I would call and ask if they do or not, could be some vicious rumour.

I unfortunetly received the same dissapointing e-mail in regards to being put on a waitlist. Does anybody happen to know if that was just the mass e-mail that went out to everybody who didn't gain entrance? Or did only a select few get waitlisted? I was accepted to an alternative accelerated program that begins next month but I'm still disappointed about not getting into my first choice school

Don't feel bad bout not getting in. UIC is the top ranked nursing school in Illinois.

I know I am wondering about the waitlist email, does everyone get put on it? That would really make me feel bad. Also, some of you mentioned that you knew your ranking on the wait list. How did you find that out? I contacted the school and they said they do not release that info. I am so sad :( I want to go to UIC so badly.

A girl in my chem class did not get in to UIC. She asked if there was a wait list and was told that she was not on it. So I would assume not everyone who was denied admission is on the wait list.

I just received an e-mail back from Ms. Fern that says that only a very select few people were put on the waiting list but that she is unable to tell me my place on the list. I guess we just have to cross our fingers. Unfortunately, I don't have any more time to wait around. I have the opportunity to begin an accelerated program in 3 weeks and I feel like I have to jump on it. Good luck to those of you who are still hanging on anxiously in hopes of receiving that certified letter. I know that I would be beside myself if I received one after I've already begun another program. Why does pursuing our dreams have to be so darn tough???:rotfl::

I was put on the waitlist after applying to UIC. They told me my number (may have changed that now) and I was in the 20s. I thought for sure that I wouldn't get it. I cried the first day but decided to just move on and apply the next year. I got a call a few weeks later saying there was a spot for me and was I interested. I think I screamed "yes!" into the phone LOL. I know some people who didn't get in until right before class started so don't give up hope! Just remember many people apply to lots of different schools. And not everyone is put on the waiting list. Several people who also applied that year didn't get put on the wait list. Good luck! The program is hard but most of the instructors will try to help you as much as possible.

AHHHHHH :yeah:.... there is hope everyone. I received a call back this morning and was told that a spot opened up for me. I'm still speechless. I'm supposed to start an accelerated program on May 11th at a different school and now I have to press the rewind button. I have to be honest, however, about my worries. Can anyone who is currently in the program give me some advice in regards to how they're financing their schooling there at UIC. I will be an out of state student and I'm really worried how I'm gonna afford tuition and the cost of living in Chicago... HELP!!! Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.... I am proof that there is still hope.

Congratulations!!! You are so lucky. Any chance you still want to go to that accelerated program?? :) make room for more people to come off the waitlist? Just kidding!! Is it so much pricier that the school you were going to go to? I know they have nursing scholarships, but the deadline was Apr.1. You can call and see if you can still submit an application. I know if I get in, I am just going to use loans and grants, but I am in state so it is not as pricey. Good luck!

I totally second what Princessa is saying, lots of people apply elsewhere. I can't believe it, but it's true!!! And, UIC is totally a wonderful place. Challenging and wonderful. I am a different, more educated nurse now that I'm going to UIC. I hope those of you who want to go there will get in. I'm going to get back to studying for finals. Good luck everyone!

I'm really struggling right now!!! I have to tell UIC wether I am gonna accept my seat by this coming Wednesday and my tuition for my accelerated nursing program is also due that day. As much as UIC is a dream come true I'm so worried that I'm not gonna be able to afford the expenses. My tuition is doubled ($14,000 for one semester) and I know the cost of living in Chicago is insane. I'm struggling over whether to do a 15 month accelerated nursing program at an affordable price or pay back student loans for the rest of my life at UIC.... Please Help!!!

Tough decision. Much as I'd like to advise you, I am sort of biased as I would like that seat at UIC :) One of the reasons that UIC is my first choice is because it is affordable and near my home. My second choice is about $40,000 more expensive and a 2 hour commute. It helps that UIC is an awesome school, but I did initially choose it for the price and location. If I had the choice to go to an accelerated program for a cheaper price, I would be there in a heartbeat. I think if you are a hard worker and you truly want to be a nurse, the school is secondary. It is ultimately what you put into it. Then again, I am also a wee bit biased. Good luck with your decision. Keep us posted!
