I haven't seem a UIC 2016 GEM thread yet. Did anyone apply? How competitive is the GEM program?
I was talking to someone who was wait-listed last year and found out that UIC doesn't even send you a courtesy email to let you know when/if all the spots are filled, or if they're moving through the wait-list like rush does. They only contact you if they're giving you a spot and leave the others hanging. Is it me or is that rude?
Me too!I clicked the link in the email to accept my spot.
It was so exciting that it was a blur and am paranoid I hit the deny option..
But I remember clicking the first option and rereading it like three times..
Omg I don't even remember how to pay the 250 because I assumed they'd send a confirmation email with the same info..
Did you find out how to submit the deposit? I was also too excited and missed it. I finally have a my.uic account, but I don't see where to do a deposit. Is it through that?
Hey,
Reading other reviews from other years I saw that they had told student their waitlist rank; this year I guess it's different because they aren't telling anyone anything. I contacted Michael and he said they can't give anymore information than what was already sent to us which was the FAQs for waitlisted students - which really didn't provide any answers. Even after students accepted or denied their position they still can't tell us anything. I think that it's stupid and kind of unorganized. For those who have to make other plans to move on need to know if they are pulling from the waitlist or if they closed the waitlist because they've already accepted all of their applicants. It's become a headache. I'm constantly checking my application status to see if it has changed - but it still says waitlisted í ½í¸¢

Well said.
this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I do not think I will accept my position as I don't know if the rest of the program is run in such a haphazard way as well.
I am feeling a bit of "we have you at our mercy so be quiet until we tell you anything"

For the people who got accepted, what was the deadline they gave you to accept/decline your spot?
