  1. Gotcha - well that is good to know Hopefully they offer a way for applicants to voice their opinions and work with the feedback. For financial aid decisions: 1. Log into the portal at https://my.uic.edu 2. Click on the "Finances" Tab 3. Click on "Award Letter" 4. Select the 2016-2017 Aid Year to view your Financial Aid Award Letter. You will need your acceptance letter and UIC ID number to activate your account (should be in an email).
  2. I actually found really cheap housing and will be living in an apartment :) UWM has a Masters of Nursing program (MN (Direct Entry) | College of Nursing). Unlike a lot of the other programs, UWM offers a Master of Nursing instead of masters of Science in Nursing - I've been told mixed things about the difference between the MN and MSN (essentially I think they are the same, but I've been told the MN has a little higher standing). You are eligible to sit for your Clinical Nurse Leader certificate when you graduate (CNL) and 27 credits from the Masters can be applied to your doctorate. They really have a well structured program that gives you two years of work experience before starting your doctorate - but you don't have to take years off between the two - you can just go straight through. The program is well organized and my adviser is just fantastic. Constantly letting me know what I need to do/what is going on....she emailed me asking if I ordered my pants yet :).... UWM wasn't even on my watch list (I applied on a whim and didn't really look into it until I got my acceptance), but I have really fallen in love with the program and school! UIC in state tuition is also comparable to UWM out of state tuition (about a 5k difference).
  3. Had to log on to my UIC application account to find anything. I was accepted, but never received an email/can't log in to the UIC portal to see financial aid decisions. As of right now I will be going to UWM unless UIC offers a financial deal that I can't refuse. I've been really disappointed in UIC's communication, response time, and overall organization for the GEM program though
  4. We are now in the same boat - just found out I was accepted to the Masters of Nursing Direct Entry program at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. They want an answer by March 11th GAHHHHHHHH UIC WHY SO SLOW?!
  5. The last interview is March 8th - I would think they would make and release their decision after all of the interviews are complete - which would put us at March 15th - March 22nd if it is a quick turnaround. In everything I have read, I have heard they are the ones that announce the latest - around April (which is super inconvenient). Update: Just called in and they said they release application decisions mid April.
  6. Wow! Congratulations on SLU - I've only heard good things - didn't apply because my family is in the Chicago area and I need to commute, but would love to say I have a SLU degree (such an awesome school)! I would definitely check to see if you could get your interview bumped, but I'm afraid that won't help you much considering decisions are released late April for UIC. Knowing how competitive these programs are, if it was me I wouldn't let an opportunity like SLU slip away, especially if I know I already had it. But that's just me!
  7. Congratulations on being invited to interview and GOOD LUCK! Definitely let us know how it went, we are rooting for you!!
  8. stdnt16 posted this link (https://allnurses.com/general-nursing...ts-971613.html) I am super nervous about the group interview as well! Its between 4 people and only 30 minutes, doesn't seem like enough time. It also sounds like they just ask you why you want to go into nursing...basically the same question in the app. essays?
  9. I think there are 204 interview slots (someone might want to recount to check?) on the sign up website. I just spoke with someone in the nursing department - they say they plan on taking 52 for Chicago. So roughly a 25% chance of being accepted - not the best statistic, but hopefully that helps! I also read on a forum (I will try to find it) that there are roughly 300 applicants total in the initial stage before they narrow it down to the interview candidates. So congratulations to everyone who has made it past stage one!
  10. Class of 2015 - just scheduled my interview for the end of this month. Just wondering if you all could share what kinds of questions were asked?
  11. Check your email :) They are sending out interview invitations!
  12. Just received an invitation to interview via email! Do we know if it will be a group interview or individual? What kind of questions do you think they will ask? I've never done a group interview before. Any tips?
  13. I haven't seem a UIC 2016 GEM thread yet. Did anyone apply? How competitive is the GEM program?
