2016 UIC Graduate Entry Master of Science Program (GEM)

Nursing Students School Programs

I haven't seem a UIC 2016 GEM thread yet. Did anyone apply? How competitive is the GEM program?

Hi! I applied as well. I'm not sure how competitive it is. Any idea about their timeline? The website is vague. Based on last years forum (https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/uic-gep-applicants-971613.html), it looks like applicants were invited to group interviews about two and a half weeks after the admissions deadline. Anyone know if they plan on doing interviews this year?

UIC does indeed have an interview portion of the process. They have started sending notifications for Fall 2016 interviews. As for competitiveness, from what I understand, it's the most competitive program in Chicago.

Just received an invitation to interview via email! Do we know if it will be a group interview or individual? What kind of questions do you think they will ask? I've never done a group interview before. Any tips?

Check your email :) They are sending out interview invitations!

Tribute - check out link from stdnt16. The later responses discuss interview process. Unless it's changed, it's a group interview with 4 per group. Congrats on your invite. Got mine today too. Good luck!

Hello everyone! Does anyone know how many people are interviewed and how many are accepted?

I think there are 204 interview slots (someone might want to recount to check?) on the sign up website. I just spoke with someone in the nursing department - they say they plan on taking 52 for Chicago. So roughly a 25% chance of being accepted :wideyed: - not the best statistic, but hopefully that helps! I also read on a forum (I will try to find it) that there are roughly 300 applicants total in the initial stage before they narrow it down to the interview candidates. So congratulations to everyone who has made it past stage one!

Does anyone know how a group interview works? I have never done one! I am so excited though and nervous at the same time! After the interview is the toughest part...the waiting game! ughhhh!

I am super nervous about the group interview as well! Its between 4 people and only 30 minutes, doesn't seem like enough time. It also sounds like they just ask you why you want to go into nursing...basically the same question in the app. essays?

Do you know how many get accepted to the Urbana campus? o.o

Oops I started a thread and now I see this one was here first.

I am going to be having my interview this Friday

I will try to update as much info as I know afterwords.

Where else are you guys applying?
