UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

I've been quiet because I've been losing hope, so I don't want to drag anyone else down. But congratulations to everyone who has received an interview invitation so far, and good luck!!! :)

I'm with you still haven't heard anything, and those lists you mentioned would be great please send them to me.

Definitely DO NOT lose hope!! Still early in the game :)

I understand how easy it is to begin to lose hope at this point but I have also come to realize that now is the wrong time to start losing hope, get your hopes up, be optimistic, and you might just hear something back in the next second, minute, hour, day, week, yes week, we still have till April 4th. Think about it this way, maybe there was very little application to MHNP that they decided not to have an interview and just directly admit :D So do not lose hope just yet, we still have lots of hope

Mine also says "Pending - manual review required." I haven't heard anything.

I am also freaking out because I haven't heard anything and don't know anyone else who is waiting to hear from Administrative Studies.

I checked last year's thread and it looks like there was a second wave of notifications for interviews a week after the first wave found out. Your specialty may not have sent out notifications yet. Fingers crossed for next week!! :)

Thank you Rachel for your encouraging words and your efforts in keeping us calm hope we get to meet someday in the future and get a good laugh on how nerve wrecking this experience was

Any updates???:)

P.S. is anyone else getting nervous about the interviews?

I am getting super nervous about the interview. I heard back that mine will be at 9:30AM on April 4th. It sounds like I'm just interviewing with one person...maybe it's one faculty member and a few students? For some reason I thought interviews were done in groups...but maybe not.

I have a tendancy to get really flustered in interview situations. I wish I knew how to do some sort of meditation that would allow me to lose that nervousness before the interview!! I'm really comfortable performing in front of people if I'm there to provide a service, but when I'm there to be judged, I get kinda nervous!!

Also, my email gave a room number, but not an address. I'm guessing the interview will be at the college of nursing, but I think I'm going to email them back just to double check.

Relax Rachel, this is where your breathing exercises come to play, I'm sure you will Ace the interview. Whatever happens just remember that the most important thing is that you had a goal to care for others and you went after it, that is being selfless and UIC will be lucky to have someone like you in their program :)

Exactly what softenny said! We don't need to psych ourselves out! If they don't take us than they are missing out on ppl who will be fantastic NPs. What specialties did you both apply for?

I applied for the Mental Health NP.

That's really cool. I was considering that speciality but ended up choosing peds. Good luck with your interview!!:D
