Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.
I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

I am applying to the 2012 GEP class! I am right now in the process of trying to get the GRE out of the way. This is mildly annoying because I took the GRE once, but that was five years ago and the score no longer applies. Oh, if only I knew then what I know now about my career preferences and true passion.
This is actually the only program I am applying to since it's the only one that doesn't require a full battery of chem classes. I am still planning to take the chem classes to broaden my options if I don't get into this program, but that means waiting another year to get into a program! I don't want to wait any longer to get into my lifelong career!! I'm excited and ready to go.
What specialty area are you applying for? I'm hoping to do the adult/geriatric concetration.
I am applying for the FNP track. Looking at the older threads, it seems that UIC has a very low acceptance rate but that their review/interview/acceptance process is very quick despite being at an odd time. If I am accepted and decide to go, I have to take a research methods class. I am currently having a difficult time cutting down my goal statement. 600 words is nearly impossible to answer their questions.
I applied to a number of schools this past fall so I took the GRE last summer. Good luck with the exam! I definitely don't envy you.

I am also interested in this program. Is the Research Methods course required before you can apply and get accepted? Or could you currently be enrolled in the course?
I think all prerequisites just have to be completed by the time you matriculate. At least I hope so. Most of the recommended research classes cost $1000+, so I'm not making the investment unless I'm accepted and decide to go.
Chantille is right. You only have to complete the methods course by the time you enroll in the program. It is not needed to actually be accepted to the program. It's probably best to hold off on taking the course until you're accepted since it is so costly.
I just sent in my supplemental application last week and my GRE scores are finally (officially) in. I am so nervous about the whole thing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I at least get an interview since this program is extremely competitive. Even if I don't get accepted this time around, it would be helpful to understand how the interview process works for the next time I apply. I'm going to keep applying until I get accepted somewhere! :)

Hi everyone!
I am also glad to see that someone else has started this thread, but I'm surprised to see that there aren't more people on it this close to the application deadline.
How low of an acceptance rate are we talking about here?? I'm starting to get nervous.
Is anyone else applying for Administrative Studies in Nursing?

I'm applying. I just sent in my transcripts, and am obsessively checking to make sure my recommenders get their letters in!
I went to an info session a few months ago, and I want to say that she said that 56 people were accepted from a pool of about 300 applicants. And some specialties are more competitive than others, so it will really depend on a few different factors.
the program is competitive and I am nervous as well...but its definitely a great program and worth a shot.. when i went to the info session the admissions counselor claimed that the most applied for programs are for FNP, Adult and Geriatrics, Peds, and Midwife....i also heard that acute care is a popular program as well. not sure about administrative studies in nursing but who really knows.

Has anyone else been waiting a long time to receive UIC GEP's supplemental application. I submitted the general application on 2/8. I emailed them on 2/21 and then on 2/22. I don't want to be a pest, but its getting down to the wire. Anyone else?
Isn't it supposed to come within 10 days? I would keep emailing. Mine came in 3-4 days.
The email it comes from is: [email protected]. Maybe check your spam filter? If it did go to spam and got deleted, there is a page where you can request the link to the supplemental application be resent: http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/ol-Login.shtml
If that doesn't work, did you get confirmation that your primary application went through? I got an email notification from UIC admissions a few days after submitting my primary application. Maybe you didn't hit the final "Submit" button?
Hope this helps!
