UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

That's really cool. I was considering that speciality but ended up choosing peds. Good luck with your interview!!:D

I don't have an interview yet, I'm still hoping to get one, hopefully I get something this week

Relax Rachel, this is where your breathing exercises come to play, I'm sure you will Ace the interview. Whatever happens just remember that the most important thing is that you had a goal to care for others and you went after it, that is being selfless and UIC will be lucky to have someone like you in their program :)

Thanks for the support!! I keep giving myself a similar pep-talk. If I don't get in this round, maybe I'll get in next round, or maybe I'll wind up getting into a different program. Becoming an NP may take a little longer or it may happen by taking a different route than I had planned (maybe it will be through Rush, DePaul, or getting an ABSN first), but it's still going to happen because I will make it happen!! (That's my determined face).

:yeah:

Same here. I still haven't heard back about an interview, and I vacillate between feeling confident I will and won't get an interview. I just keep thinking back on things I could have done differently on my application. One way or another, I should know a week from now. In the meantime I'm keeping myself busy with a medical terminology textbook that was highly recommended by profs on this board. (The Language of Medicine by Davi-Ellen Chabner)

Congratulations again to everyone who has received an interview so far. My best interview advice is to make sure you have a good night's sleep the night before. That's made all the difference for me in the past. :)

Sending good luck to everyone!:D

What time are you interviewing?

Misspriss - did you get the idea that your interview was going to be one-on-one, or do you get the impression that your interview will be in a group setting?

Hi wondering if anyone has been invited for a WHNP interview who didn't originally apply to that program? I applied for midwifery but am now hoping to do WHNP/CNM combined. After looking again at the coursework for the combined program, it seems like it would provide more clinical time and broader skills. I am curious if people have thoughts on the benefits/drawbacks of doing the combined program instead of solely a WHNP or CNM.

The email that I received from addressed to six people including myself and this from the email , "Applicants will be interviewed individually by one faculty member. The purpose of the interview is to get to know you and determine your fit for the program" . I received a confirmation email after I sent in the times I would like and was given the room number and that I would be meeting with Dr. Corbridge.

I got an interview for Peds CNS :) Ahh so happy!

Congrats to everyone else!

Congrats Sjj!!!!
