UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

I got an interview for Peds CNS :) Ahh so happy!

Congrats to everyone else!

YAY sjj6810!!!

sjj6810 - What great news!! YAY!!!

Misspriss - thanks for the input! I didn't get that first email so I wasn't really sure about the format for the interview. Since we're in the same department, I bet our interview structure will be somewhat similar. I think you also asked last week what people were planning to wear for the interview. I am going to wear a suit. My philosophy is that it's always better to be overdressed than underdressed, and a suit can't be a negative!

Thanks everyone! Good luck on all your interviews :)

Hey Rachel,

I decided on a suit too. I had to buy a new shirt to go underneath it since the other one made me too unconfortable and I didn't want to be fidigiting the whole interview.

Does anyone know a good place to park by the CON building? When I went for the information session I ended up in Rush's parking garage and had a little bit of a walk... It's supposed to rain on Monday and I don't want to look like a wet mess from walking blocks in the rain...

I'm still pulling for you guys that haven't heard back yet!

I live by the CON. Kind of. I don't know if there is any good way for me to get there from my apartment besides walking. Hmmmmmm...if the weather is bad maybe I'll be cabbing it (since I don't have a car in the city). Good call on going for comfort. I'm not sure about parking garages. I think the closest one is actually all the way out by Rush. I'm trying to picture when I was out there for a job-related project, and I don't remember seeing any nearby parking garages except for the ones that were right by the hospital(s). I didn't see any around the campus.

There's street parking available. If you go to http://www.chicagometers.com/find-parking.aspx you can search by the street address and on the map you'll see where spots are nearby, how many there are at each place and how much they are. I find metered street parking much more affordable than parking garages and when I went to the info meeting I found a spot a block away from the CON building. ;)

Congrats, SJJ! Did you recently get the interview? I haven't heard and I'm debating if it's too early to have a meltdown.

That's a really helpful link, thanks one phoenix rising! Misspriss let me know how the parking/driving works out for you because I was planning on driving too, but on Wednesday.

misspriss...I will be interviewing at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Susan Corbridge. What about you? I am so nervous/excited!
