UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

Congrats and Good Luck again to everyone who has interviews!!

Today I received an email inviting me to interview for FNP! So if anyone else is waiting for FNP still, it looks like they are still handing out interviews.

Congrats!!!

Hey crad611--Congrats on the interview!! Do you mind sharing when you are having your interview? I'm just curious about their timeline since FNP program coordinator said they had "about 50 applicants this year" and interviewed about 26 on Monday. They also said they would have a decision made by the 22nd.

Did anyone else find out when the FNP applicants would be contacted about their final decision?

My interview is on the 12th at 1:30pm with Judy Davis. The email I received wasn't a mass email either. I figured maybe they only sent out a handful more, maybe? Does anyone know how many spots are available for FNP?

When I had my interview for ACNP I was told that they were looking to accept 65 students total and 14 for ACNP which is higher than last year which I think they only took 7? I don't know how many applications they received either so if anyone else knows I'd love to hear!!!

This whole waiting thing is killlllllllling me! It's been four days since my interview and I'm already stalking my gmail account along with this thread. It's going to be a looooooong several weeks. For those of you who haven't interviewed yet, I wish you the best!! :)

Also, I heard there will be 9 to 11 spots for the adult/geriatric track this year. Did anyone else on here interview for that track?

Any CNM hopefuls out there? I have an interview on Monday, just got the invitation to interview a few days ago--I'm glad that it isn't too far off, the waiting is killing me!

I interviewed via telephone for administrative studies this morning. It's so hard to tell how it went via telephone! Either way, I think it went okay. She estimated that I'd be waiting about EIGHT WEEKS for a decision. I hope that it's sooner than that!

Good luck to everyone!

It's great to find all of you! I had an interview last week for ACNP as well. I hope they are taking more students this year! That would give us all a much better chance! The wait for the decision is going to be excruciating. Still, I think their turn around time is pretty quick, compared to other programs. We should hear in the next two weeks or so. I know the woman I interviewed with also said that she thinks they will be taking around 65 students this year, instead of the usual 56. Good luck everyone!

MissPriss and CPA2MSN,

Did either of you hear exactly how many people were being interviewed for ACNP slots and was there any time frame that was given to you regarding admissions decisions. Hope the waiting is not as hard for you as it is on my end!
