UH 2nd Degree BSN 2020 Applicants (University of Houston Second Degree BSN Program)

Published

Hello future nursing students!

I didn't see a forum for those of us applying to the University of Houston - Sugar Land nursing program in the Spring of 2020, so I decided to start one. I have already submitted my application and completed my CPR certification, so now there's just the waiting. I've attached all the resources from the UH website that I could find, just for everyone's convenience.

I do have a few questions though: is anyone else having issues submitting the SSN release form? I get an error message every time I try, and I haven't heard back from the school about it yet (I emailed them asking if it had been received). Are y'all applying to other accelerated programs? If so- could you share which ones?

I was also wondering what kind of stats everyone who's applying has, or if anyone has any info about past applicants/students and the scores/extracurriculars that they had before acceptance. If anyone would be willing to share that info, it would be super appreciated!

Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!

I too am applying for admission into the Spring 2020 program. I have already submitted my application, faxed my SSN form, and completed my BLS/AED certification. I look forward to taking this journey with you all and BEST OF LUCK!!

How do we know if they received our faxed SSN form?

Unfortunately, we don't, and they were pretty adamant at the informational session that we DON'T call to check on them. They said that if you were having trouble, you can physically mail them in. They also said that if they're still missing it and you've made it through the interview or whatever, they'll just ask for another one. If you got a confirmation page from you fax, they said to hang on to that as proof that you sent it.

Thank you! I will hold on to the confirmation!

Hi everyone,

I Graduated from Texas A&M University with a 3.55 overall, I have my BLS/CPR certification, and I have been a chiropractic assistant as well as a home healthcare caretaker for an elderly woman. I got an 86 on my TEAS. I am hoping that this will be enough to get an interview! I feel like my stats are extremely average.

I wouldn't rag too much on your stats! You and I are about in the same boat there (your GPA is better than mine tho, haha!). Also- based on everything I've heard, stats are nice, but aren't the end all in regards to acceptance/interview.

Good luck!!

Hi Everyone!

Does anyone know if it is required to have ATI send your teas scores or if uploading them in nursingCAS is enough. The instructions say either OR but the language is a tad ambiguous and I am curious if anyone knows for sure or what yall did. On ATI it only has the option to send to uofh and not directly to the email; it states in the nursingcas instruction to send to a specific email. Let me know :)

It says send to school or upload to NursingCAS, so yes, uploading to NursingCAS should suffice

I did both- but I'm paranoid about it. Make sure if you upload it to CAS that you're uploading the detailed report and not just the overall summary. The report you upload should have the breakdown of how you did in each section. It should be several pages long. ?

Yes I’m paranoid too I did upload the document they requested. The individual performance report

Hey there Rachan-

I'm not sure of the specifics because I've only really looked in to the BSN program, but there are informational sessions you can go to where they'll break it down for you further. Here's the link for the website with the MSN specific requirements:
