This is just a vent, there is no solution for this...
Overnight peeps... do any of your clients have the same playlist of music (lullabies, in my case) that runs over and over and over? Every night? Don't these kids get sick of this music? Gah!!!
I also have a ct who's parents have a country music station on for her all the time, which I do not care for, to put it mildly. It plays hits in high rotation, so I end up having the country top 40 in my head all the time! ("Chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit!" Pure poetry.) Amusingly, I can get that client to stop crying only when I sing Red Hot Chili Peppers songs, so there's hope for this one.
A have a deep and abiding loathing for The Backyardigans......
One client had a radio that played some lame-o station that only had about a six-song playlist. Just about went bonkers until one night I put on my beloved oldies station (intending to change it back in the morning) only to find out EVERYONE loved the 'new' station! Victory!
Edit: My little cutie that was a Backyardigans fan? I did an evening shift once and got her totally hooked on COPS! It was hilarious- she laughed and clapped the entire episode!
I will often watch a movie or listen to a concert on YouTube with one ear bud on low volume. I always must have at least one ear tuned in since the child is trached. Actually I seldom have both buds going even when I'm not at work. I dislike not hearing what's happening around me, it feels creepy.
Why do dem boys 'round here sing about being a redneck like it's a good thing? "I'm about to get my redneck on"? "Gonna shine my headlights in your bedroom window"? Sounds like a scary stalker to me, and I'll betcha he's got a gun there!
I like country music, but even that song gets to me. "I didn't come here to start a fight..." we'll then, what do you call what you're doing??
I had a patient that would only listen to country on TV. We weren't allowed to change the channel. It was pure torture. The channel played the same 5 songs over and over. If the power went out or the weather caused the satellite to go out, the kid would flip out to the point of self injury. He would kick the bed rails and anyone standing around him. Even his school classroom had to play it for him or he would flip out!
