UFV September 2016 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone!

I don't think there is a September 2016 page yet so I thought I would make one. :) What grades and how many hours are you all applying with? I need people to wait nervously with me. ;)

My interview is march 31st. I am super excited for it to be done and over with. I just keep reminding myself that the odds of getting a seat after an interview are about fifty percent, which I think is pretty good!

That's true AndreaS22, 50% shot! My interview is on March 21st and I'm freaking out..my biggest issue is nerves and getting totally tongue tied. I've basically just been going over general prep questions from job interviews, hoping some of the nursing interview questions might some how correlate together lol.

What's the best way to prepare for this interview

When's your interview N1996?

As someone currently in the program the number one piece of advice I would give would be to make sure ALL your electives are done prior to starting. Eng 105, Stats 104/106, a 100 level Anthro, Psych or Soc course...it will make your life in the program way easier. Like if your planning on starting in Sept, and you don't have something done, take it this Summer. It is worth whatever adjustments you'll have to make. The only one I didn't have done was stats, and I am now forced to take it online during what should have been my break (I'm a third year fast track)

Anyways, I have an stats exam today and am loathing it, so i figured I would procrastinate studying for bit to drop that random piece of advice.

Good luck to all :-)

Thanks for the advice :) my interview is next week Wednesday

Hey guys my interview is on the 21st and I was just wondering if during the interview there will be situational questions, much like the essay, or personal ones, for example, "why choose nursing" or "What makes you a good candidate?" etc. I'm assuming there will be a mixture but I've been preparing more like a job style interview.

Who's all hd their interviewz?

Finished my interview this morning. Definitely not what I was expecting..I was thrown off by some questions but my interviewer constantly kept saying "oh good good" after my answers so who knows, I'm hoping that's a good thing. It lasted about 40 minutes. I was more surprised at the questions that weren't asked though. So weird. Nothing to do now but wait, and if worse comes to worse and I don't get in this intake there's always January!

Don't worry I'm sure you did good . Was the interviewer nice

Yeah she was nice but there really wasn't any sort of small talk before the interview, which I was kind of hoping would happen to lessen the nerves. She was pretty straight forward, in her office and we just started right away lol.

Hey guys!

I'm currently in my first semester for nursing and I wanted to wish you all good luck for you interviews! I believe I saw some of you today afternoon while waiting in the lounge. Just some quick tips for you all:

Ø Be confident. --> You have worked so incredibly hard to be given the opportunity for an interview for this highly competitive process. Be proud of what you have accomplished thus far. You have put in hours of work to be able to obtain highly competitive grades and volunteer hours. That is not easy feat. The professors doing interviews want you to exuberate confidence. Show that you do deserve a seat in this program.

Ø Be honest and sincere. --> Do not try to be fake or be someone you are not. They will see through that. Instead by honest with your answers and kind. They will appreciate honesty in your answers rather than something you think you should say.

Ø Display leadership --> This is highly crucial! My professor who is doing interviews told us that they want to see students who are leaders. The nursing field is changing and they want leaders who will collaborate with other health care workers in driving the nursing field forward.

I hope that helps! Feel free to ask any more questions and I'll try to answer them when I get the chance.

Good luck y'all!
