Hey everyone!
I don't think there is a September 2016 page yet so I thought I would make one. :) What grades and how many hours are you all applying with? I need people to wait nervously with me.
Do people mind mentioning what they applied with to get in? I applied with an A+, an A, and two B's with 100+ volunteer and post secondary and still did not get in. I mean it was my first applying but I had no idea this school was really competitive. I noticed my application got deferred for winter 2017. Does anyone know if admissions choose applicants who apply a second time or something?

I applied with 3 A's, 1 B and 53 hours of volunteering so I was worried because my hours were so low.. but I think my grades were good enough to get me an interview even before having done the essay. Fortunately my interview went really well and I got in. This was my first time applying but I remember my interviewer telling me that if I didn't get in this time, they would still hold my application for the January intake so make sure to get more hours/ update any marks and complete any non nursing courses and send those in for the next intake since they still have the rest of the info sent before. After that, if you don't get in the second time, you'll have to send all the documents all over again if you were to apply again. So yea.. try again!! I hope you get in, good luck :)

I applied with straight A's and no post secondary, with around 10,978 hours of work experience which was approved because I work in a long term care home. This was my first time applying. I knew applying to UFV would be really competitive because of the point system they have in place, but I also know they like diversity and accept students with different backgrounds. At my care home we are unionized with BCNU (BC Nurses' Union) and I think I had an edge and was accepted because I'm currently a steward coordinator(lead-shop steward for those of you familiar with unions) and have worked with BCNU on their regional executive team. With that being said I had a lot of knowledge going into the nursing interview and knew this was a good fit for me so I tried to bring out my work/Union experience to showcase that I knew what I was getting into and I had an idea of what to expect post school graduation.
I would really reccomened upgrading one of your B's to an A, as that would give you 14 points for academics, pretty much guaranteed an interview right there. Prep yourself for possible interview questions- I had written out about 30 possible questions to just practice answering out of the blue weird questions and really try to back up your ideas when writing out the essay questions. Best of luck next intake!
I was declined for this intake as UFV didn't take in consideration of my upgraded grades that I was completing this past semester. Luckly, VIU did. I was contacted last week by VIU and waitlisted. Today I was accepted.
I am sad that I didn't get a seat at the University I initially tried for but I rather take the acceptance now then try in January when they only offer 32 seats and risk not getting in. Congrats to everyone who got in on this intake. I will be moving out of chilliwack and onto the island!
