Vancouver Island university practicum inquiry
Hello! I applied to UFV and VIU for the BSN program this September. I had all A's when I sent in two upgraded course marks part way through the semester and finished with 3 As and an A+. Originally, I was declined as UFV didn't allow me to send in my interm upgraded grades and VIUs seats were all full but I guess seats opened up. Last week, I was wait listed for VIU and on Monday, I got a life changing call. I have been accepted into Septembers intake for the BSN program at VIU. I will be relocating from Chilliwack to Nanaimo this summer to take the seat... I'm both super excited and nervous! All universities are competitive to get into but you just have to keep at it! VIU only looks at four grades to get in. UFV looked at four grades, volunteer hours, entrance essay and an interview! Good luck to all who are working at it and I look forward to meeting anyone who got in for Septembers intake! :)

UFV September 2016 Applicants
I was declined for this intake as UFV didn't take in consideration of my upgraded grades that I was completing this past semester. Luckly, VIU did. I was contacted last week by VIU and waitlisted. Today I was accepted. I am sad that I didn't get a seat at the University I initially tried for but I rather take the acceptance now then try in January when they only offer 32 seats and risk not getting in. Congrats to everyone who got in on this intake. I will be moving out of chilliwack and onto the island!

Vancouver Island University-2016 Intake
Hello! I originally applied at UFV then thought I should apply at VIU as they allow you to send in interm upgraded grades which I ended up doing so here I am! I didn't get accepted originally... I was shocked to open the letter to get a not accepted response as with my upgraded grades, I had all A's, with an A+. I figured it was because when I sent in my interm grades, it bumped my application date back... but.... today I received a letter to say that so many applicants declined their seats that they opened up a 23 seat wait list and I was included on the list. I emailed in to see where I stand on the list as I live in Chilliwack and would have to relocate to take the seat. I'm excited. :)

I applied to VIU. Was not accepted unfortunately. I applied while I was upgrading two of my courses then sent in my interm grades. I had all A's but then it goes to the date of application completion. I heard other students got accepted on VIUs wait list as well.

UFV September 2016 Applicants
That's tough. I moved to chiliwack from Langley two and a half years ago just for the nursing program. I wanted to get to know the area as well as complete my pre reqs and take the required nursing courses, previous to acceptance. I would try calling them, explain the situation and see if they would be willing to make an exception for a month. Nursing is incredibly competitive to get in so I would jump on any acceptance but I also would want to see what all of the universities said first. Would the deposit ne transferable to anyone else, like another student at all if you were to put it down? Weigh out the pros and cons of going to TRU over UFV, what would happen in the event you didn't get accepted in ufv and turned down TRU and so on.

UFV September 2016 Applicants
I had my interview today along with several other students that I saw walk up looking quite nice. The interview was and wasn't what I was expecting. I prepped myself by doing research on the types of questions that they ask, how to formulate my own answers and how to make them unique to me. I did find that many of the questions were blanket questions that were very open ended... not very specific on what type of answer they were looking for. This is when you need to be confident in your answers and back up your answers with a good example. I was confident going into the interview so I can only hope that my interviewer saw that and will give good feedback. I took the opportunity to ask a good question at the end that lead into further conversation. This is when the interview felt more like an interview as we were both actively engaged in conversation rather than the interviewer working away trying to catch everything I was saying. Now the wait begins. Good luck to everyone!

Hey! I followed the chat for the January intake. I made it to the information session but not the interview. I decided to upgrade two of my course which I'm doing right now and I'm also getting more volunteer time as well. Without this current semesters hard work, I have 2As, 2Bs and 2 years full time work at a care home which would equal out to... 4160 hrs? I was invited to the information session and interview this time around for September intake. I'm super excited! UFV won't be taking my upgraded grades I'm completing right now but VIU is allowing me to update them before March 31st. I would love to be accepted here, at Chilliwack BSN program... But as everyone who has applied more than once, it is really competitive.

UFV January 2016 Hopeful Applicants!
I attended the info session on Sept 30th, have 14 points for my prereqs and haven't heard anything back yet. I just emailed the Health Science office asking if they knew the final date of decisions for interviews.
