UFV January 2015 intake _ BSN 4 year

Published

Hello all!

I am planning on applying for UFV Nursing program and thought I should start a thread for everyone applying to get together and discuss any issues/concerns.

I am not a straight A student, or a straight B. In fact, most of my marks consist of B's and C+'s unfortunately, but I still plan on applying after speaking to a counsellor at UFV.

I have well over 150 hours of volunteering in two different hospitals and old-folk homes. I've volunteered at Children's Hospital for 8 months and RCH for the past year and a half (I love it!-- consider volunteering there, I've currently taken it upon myself to explore the hospital and all it has to offer. The opportunities for learning are endless and the staff is pretty wonderful). The old-folks home was with the Salvation Army, also a great place.

I have most everything they ask for & more, but lack the straight A's that people in previous threads say they have applied with. Like anyone else in my position, the grades worry me. For some schools (ex, BCIT or UofC) , they only look at the last 30 credits for a GPA count. Does anyone know the process at UFV?

I've applied at BCIT a couple of times and plan on doing so again, but thought I should broaden my horizon. BCIT has a fairly different system than UFV and it has been my target school for the past 1.5 years.

Please share your own thoughts & concerns! :-) Let's build up our support system.

Mine says 'ready for review' as well. However, the last letter they sent, said it was complete and to wait to info session dates....and wait....and wait....

Can't believe nothing yet!

Nothing for me still, anyone?

Nothing here as well! Taking longer than I expected

Hey there guys! I'm currently in the program just started in September. I was talking to one of the profs they said that they just finished putting the list of potentials together and are going to start contacting them around 1st week of October. I know the wait sucks! Hold tight good luck and hope to see you in January :)

I called the health department this afternoon. Looks like the info sessions will be held Oct 7 - not confirmed though.

The waiting is tough :whistling:

Is the info session usually in the evening? What if the time doesn't work out for someone?

Yes. Typically they are in the evening. I'd contact M.P. when you receive the time and it doesn't work for you. I most likely will be writing my essay on the same day as the interview (because I don't live locally [Calgary]).

I got the email for the information session! :D

Got the email as well ;)

Did you receive your emails today ??

We received them on Oct 1st, Wednesday. Today I got the email to set up an interview time.
