UFV January 2015 intake _ BSN 4 year

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all!

I am planning on applying for UFV Nursing program and thought I should start a thread for everyone applying to get together and discuss any issues/concerns.

I am not a straight A student, or a straight B. In fact, most of my marks consist of B's and C+'s unfortunately, but I still plan on applying after speaking to a counsellor at UFV.

I have well over 150 hours of volunteering in two different hospitals and old-folk homes. I've volunteered at Children's Hospital for 8 months and RCH for the past year and a half (I love it!-- consider volunteering there, I've currently taken it upon myself to explore the hospital and all it has to offer. The opportunities for learning are endless and the staff is pretty wonderful). The old-folks home was with the Salvation Army, also a great place.

I have most everything they ask for & more, but lack the straight A's that people in previous threads say they have applied with. Like anyone else in my position, the grades worry me. For some schools (ex, BCIT or UofC) , they only look at the last 30 credits for a GPA count. Does anyone know the process at UFV?

I've applied at BCIT a couple of times and plan on doing so again, but thought I should broaden my horizon. BCIT has a fairly different system than UFV and it has been my target school for the past 1.5 years.

Please share your own thoughts & concerns! :-) Let's build up our support system.

Hello Fellow Nursing Hopefuls!

I regularly check the feed to see how things are progressing and figured I should contribute something

This is my second round applying, same as Brianne17, I got as far as the interview.

Once I didn't get accepted, I sat down with N**** G*** and she was simply concerned about my min. C+ in Math 11. -- why make that the minimum then :bored: ??

That was about it regarding my application. However, that has been around 3 years ago (I've since moved to Calgary just for work - moving back soon!)

She mentioned that the high school applicants were favoured and grades are a big deal. Hopefully they have since expanded their search demographic and look at the applicants profile ie. work experience, interview etc.

Just for a tip regarding the human anatomy & physiology course (....if not accepted in this intake), TRU Online offers both semesters (UFV accepts this transfer -please confirm yourself though) and the lab for both semesters are held for 2 weeks in Kamloops.

Also, i've heard the Pathophysiology at UFV is brutal. Think I'll pick up the textbook and study beforehand. If your accepted, thats only 3 more full-months away!! :nailbiting:

Nervous and anxious!

Good to hear wdanae. I am re- doing patho right now at Douglas College ( i got 61% where at DC u need 65%). It is a hard course with alot of information given to you at once. I have done both anatomy classes too (B- & C) i am hoping my post secondary marks are more than enough to get in.

So far so good. Test tomorrow on 180 Pgs (after only having one class!!!) I'm hoping that my marks are good as well. I tried upgrading in the summer but with the strike it made it impossible for me :(

Let's hope we all get in!!!!

still waiting to hear back about anything! :(

I talked to someone she said info session is end of sept interviews are in Oct

does anyone know when we should be expecting invites??

should by any day now

should I be worried if my statues still says " ready for review" still??

dont worry if you've received an email saying your application is complete

Thats the thing, I have not received anything yet

you should probably call in or email the school of health studies and check with them.. calling would be better.
