UFV January 2015 intake _ BSN 4 year

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all!

I am planning on applying for UFV Nursing program and thought I should start a thread for everyone applying to get together and discuss any issues/concerns.

I am not a straight A student, or a straight B. In fact, most of my marks consist of B's and C+'s unfortunately, but I still plan on applying after speaking to a counsellor at UFV.

I have well over 150 hours of volunteering in two different hospitals and old-folk homes. I've volunteered at Children's Hospital for 8 months and RCH for the past year and a half (I love it!-- consider volunteering there, I've currently taken it upon myself to explore the hospital and all it has to offer. The opportunities for learning are endless and the staff is pretty wonderful). The old-folks home was with the Salvation Army, also a great place.

I have most everything they ask for & more, but lack the straight A's that people in previous threads say they have applied with. Like anyone else in my position, the grades worry me. For some schools (ex, BCIT or UofC) , they only look at the last 30 credits for a GPA count. Does anyone know the process at UFV?

I've applied at BCIT a couple of times and plan on doing so again, but thought I should broaden my horizon. BCIT has a fairly different system than UFV and it has been my target school for the past 1.5 years.

Please share your own thoughts & concerns! :-) Let's build up our support system.

Db131... They are looking at english 12, biology 12, chem 11 and math 11. For what I have read you need at least 2 A's and 2 B's to be competitive. Volunteer hours to be competitive around 120 but it all depends on the applicant pool. Hope this helps. I too am a post secondary student but I have to upgrade bio 12 and chem 11

The more A's you have the better in those required high school classes!

I has all A's, and about 110 volunteer hours- at a senior home.

You're good based on your grades and experience, it comes down to how you do on the interview and essay..

The deadline for the next intake is August 15th.

Hi everyone,

I just got my email inviting me to the information session for the September 2015 intake, and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on the kinds of questions they would ask for the essay, and what your responses would be?

Any information you have is helpful as I am currently a big ball of nerves!!

Thanks!

Hey, does everyone get an interview?

and what grades and volunteer/work experience did you apply with?

NRenwick... Congrats on getting an interview. May i ask what you had as far as grades?

I haven't got an interview yet, so far I have just been invited to the information session where you write the essay.

I have 2 A's a B+, and a B, and I also have 200 hours of volunteer experience.
