UFV January 2015 intake _ BSN 4 year

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all!

I am planning on applying for UFV Nursing program and thought I should start a thread for everyone applying to get together and discuss any issues/concerns.

I am not a straight A student, or a straight B. In fact, most of my marks consist of B's and C+'s unfortunately, but I still plan on applying after speaking to a counsellor at UFV.

I have well over 150 hours of volunteering in two different hospitals and old-folk homes. I've volunteered at Children's Hospital for 8 months and RCH for the past year and a half (I love it!-- consider volunteering there, I've currently taken it upon myself to explore the hospital and all it has to offer. The opportunities for learning are endless and the staff is pretty wonderful). The old-folks home was with the Salvation Army, also a great place.

I have most everything they ask for & more, but lack the straight A's that people in previous threads say they have applied with. Like anyone else in my position, the grades worry me. For some schools (ex, BCIT or UofC) , they only look at the last 30 credits for a GPA count. Does anyone know the process at UFV?

I've applied at BCIT a couple of times and plan on doing so again, but thought I should broaden my horizon. BCIT has a fairly different system than UFV and it has been my target school for the past 1.5 years.

Please share your own thoughts & concerns! :-) Let's build up our support system.

For ufv they use a point system to decide if you will be accepted or not. The academic aspect of your application Is out of sixteen points. An A:four points, a B is 3 and a c+ is 2 points. Personally I upgraded my sciences and math thru Ufv and guaranteed myself a chance to write the essay and to be interviewed. I urge you to consider applying for Bio 093 and math 085 through Ufv for September!

I'm applying as well! I have all A's for the required courses plus some university courses. I'm worried about the volunteer part, I only have about 100 hours and the interview as well!

I have applied for Jan also. I am with you ipascu, i do not have the high school grades ( B's and C+'s as well) but I have done first year english, both Antaomy & physiology classes , stats and my electives. I was at Douglas but they have changed their program reuirements to a 1+3 year. You do ur electives first then 3 years of straight nursing classes. I am having trouble with patho ( i got a C and you need a C + ) so i am hoping that my grades from douglas will be enough to get in. I have 125 volunteer hours. I am hoping tht is enough.

I got the complete status email yesterday. Anyone else?

mine still says " ready for review"

Mine says that too but there was an email I received which said its complete. Have you handed all your required documents in?

hoping to get in! Does anyone know of any other jan intakes around here or in victoria just in case!

Brianne17 you can try Douglas College, BCIT, Kwantlen. I know DC has changed their intake process to a 1+ 3 year ( I am currently in their program). However, I am having trouble with the Pathology , and Microbiology classes.
