UFV BSN SEPTEMBER 2020 INTAKE

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the process of applying to UFV's BSN program for the Fall 2020 intake and figured I would create a new post where those of us applying for the Fall 2020 intake can share/help each other out with the application/admission process. Anything from discussing GPA for pre-reqs, volunteer/work experience, etc. A little bit about me - I am just about finished my HSCI degree from SFU but took this semester off to retake some of the high school pre-reqs (Chem 11, Bio 12, Math 12). I did fairly well in these classes during high school but figured I could retake them again and see if I do any better.

As far as my healthcare related experience goes, I have been volunteering at a seniors home for 6 years now, and was recently hired by the same seniors home to work as a recreation aide. I also worked as a recreation aide at another seniors Independent Living/Complex Care facility for about 1.5 years. I also spent a year volunteering at a high intensity rehab unit where I helped the OT facilitate various exercise groups (this was during a time where I was still unsure between OT and nursing).

I'm hoping to complete my high school pre reqs by the beginning of January so that I can make the January 31 deadline. This will be my first time applying to UFV or any nursing program for that matter.

Hopefully this forum can be a place where us prospective UFV BSN students can help each other throughout the application/admission process and give each other pointers! Best of luck everyone! ?

Did one of the professors say that there was only 68? I thought it was supposed to be 90 and they take about half into the program

I feel good about it too. I think there were 10-12 people in my group, I’m not sure how many different groups there were?

I was with **** and had over 30 people. She said don’t worry if you don’t get a confirmation about your email right away because there’s 68 of you or something like that . Anyone here with ****? Because I swear I heard that but wasn’t fully paying attention ?

I though 90 as well then 48 into the program. There was 11 in my group too, I was with Samantha

I also had ***** but I thought it was 86 people that were interviewed, I might have heard wrong. But I am pretty sure that only 48 people get into the fall program. Good luck to everyone ?

I’m still torn between UFV and UBCO...it’s super hard to know what school is better. I’ve heard great things about both.

I think they will be lenient with your email. I had troubles emailing my essay and it didn’t seem to be a big deal.

yea I heard that there were 86 people being interviewed today, and how many do they accept, was it 45?

***** said 86 today and 48 get in. I really hate that we had to type out our answers cause personally I find I’m a better talker in person. How does everyone else think about emailing and typing out the answers?

I think speaking would have been better as some people better speakers and we already wrote the essay . How long were everyone’s answers? I am super nervous I don’t know how I’m going to wait 2.5 weeks

My answers were not long, like 3 sentences per answer. I would have preferred talking as well. However, I think I answered pretty concise and I think that could help rather then rambling on trying to fill the 3 minutes...

It’s hard to estimate which way would have been more advantageous, but I’m satisfied with the answers I produced. Each of my answers were around 5 sentences long (maybe 80-100 words).

TBH guys, I honestly felt a bit rushed for some of the questions. It felt as if I didn’t have enough time. Well we’ll see what happens.

Now the waiting game begins ...
