BC NP Summer/FALL 2026 APPLICANTS
Update: on Tuesday I got a very brief "Thank You!”email from UVic acknowledging my acceptance email. My official transcripts are also starting to appear on my application list.

BC NP Summer/FALL 2026 APPLICANTS
I am unsure what factors in to UVic's admission process but I have a BA in psychology (from a long time ago, 2009) and my BSN (2023). I have a nursing specialty certificate from BCIT and several years experience as an emergency nurse, over a decade as a care aid before nursing, and 5 years in crisis support before that. My GPA is competitive (above 90% on all my BSN and BCIT courses). I have some research experience for a lab at UBC I worked for during my BSN, and have been published as a secondary author on two studies. I also recently completed my STI certified practice and took the BCIT pelvic exam course. Historically, I have years of varied volunteer experience but very little in recent years. I am also half way through my MN in Advanced Practice Leadership at UVic when I reapplied to switch to the NP stream. I have already completed the core MN courses at UVic with competitive GPA as well. My writing skills are decent and I provided them a sample of my written work with my application. I'm unsure if demographics are factored in but I am also gay and cis-male (I know in the past some universities have had efforts to recruit more men into the nursing profession). Hope some of this helps.

BC NP Summer/FALL 2026 APPLICANTS
I only sent them official transcripts from the schools they specifically requested (2 of my 5). They were interested in my nursing specific education, I guess. I have a previous BA and Diplomas in other things they didn't request official transcripts for (though for my original application I did upload unofficial transcripts of everything). I took Hummingbird Level 1&2 though VCH (It was free as I'm a Vancouver Coastal Health employee).

BC NP Summer/FALL 2026 APPLICANTS
I sent them an email accepting the offer, paid the acceptance fee, and paid for copies of official transcripts to be sent to UVic. I have not heard from UVic or seen any change on my application status, but I assume it will take them some time to update things. Hopefully this week the application page will be updated. I have completed all their asks for my provisional acceptance, so I expect once they update things on the back end it'll turn to a full admitted status.

I am already half way through another stream of the MN program and I had to resubmit everything when I applied to switch to the NP stream, including official transcripts (which they already have) once provisionally accepted. Kind of silly. So yeah, you'll need to start from scratch each time you apply.

Congrats! Is your last name end of the alphabet too? I haven't got the welcome email yet, I expect that tomorrow. I'm curious what my provisions are as I'm already in the MN program in another stream (half way though the APL program) so they already have my official transcripts and pre-requisites. So we'll see what the letter says. Maybe it's just the $400 deposit they need. Are you accepting at another school instead? What led to choosing them over UVic? Just curious

Mine switched to provisionally admitted this morning. I think they were just working through the applicants by alphabet as my last name is near the end!

Thanks for the encouragement! I wonder why that would make a difference?

I just checked and mine still says "recommend by department" and I'm going nuts waiting haha. My last name is at the end of the alphabet so I'm hoping they're just working their way down a list

BCIT January 2021
Hey group, unfortunately I have made the difficult decision to give up my seat in the BCIT April 2021 intake. The good news is that someone off the wait list will soon be very happy! Good luck everyone! (I am still doing a BSN but have decided to attend UBC Okanagan, so hopefully I’ll still get to work with some of you in the years to come!)

BCIT January 2021
Yes, I agonized over this decision for a long time. I was offered a spot at all 8 schools I applied to, except BCIT which is still pending. Ironically, BCIT was my top choice and all the other applications were meant to be backups in case I wasn’t accepted to BCIT. But the pandemic affected everything for everyone, and while the other schools adjusted their programs in real time and carried on with their regular intake timelines, BCIT took a different approach by pushing everything down the line. Anyways...I’m currently attending UBC Okanagan. If I get accepted at BCIT, I would consider switching purely on the basis of cost. Not having to move to Kelowna would save me a ton of money as I have free accommodation in the lower mainland (UBC is currently 100% online, so I’ve been able to start my courses without having to move yet. This is not based on the nursing program at UBC-O which has been excellent so far! I’m really loving it).

FALL 2020 INTAKE: SELKIRK COLLEGE/VIU/COTR/NORTHISLANDCOLLEGE
Hey, yes I was put on the additional-20 waiting list in early May. I was offered a seat in VIUs program on May 19, which I declined because I accepted an offer at UBC-Okanagan instead.
