UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012

Published

Hi Guys! I haven't seen any threads for this coming fall semester for UF, so i decided to start one.

I'll start by saying my name is Naomi & I have applied for entry into the GENERIC Fall 2012 BSN program. I'm a Jacksonville, FL native and I am praying for this acceptance so I can get started with nursing school, finish, and start my career. I am super excited because I love Gainesville and UF. I think it is a terrific school, as I have a few friends who attend there. When I applied I had a 3.31 overall GPA, and I'm not quite sure how to calculate my science GPA, (if anyone can help me with that, I'll definitely appreciate it!) but I feel I wrote a great essay, so hopefully along with that and my prayers, I will get accepted. I am already claiming it!

Well, I wish you guys who applied the best of luck and I hope to see you all this coming fall semester. =)

I guess this can be a means of communication for those out there with any questions or comments regarding the application/review process, or anything else you're curious to know.

Good luck!

- Naomi

Hi all,

I have a 3.94 cumulative GPA and 3.81 prerequisite GPA. I do not have any previous medical experiences except for some minor volunteering services while in highschool. I was hoping my grades as well as my essay will stand out a bit. I also graduated with my AA from a FL community college last Fall.

Late last year I applied to three different schools including UF, UMass Boston, and USF. I found out early spring of this year that I was accepted to both USF and UMass. I decided to deny USF and go with UMB. For the past several months, I have patiently waited for UF's answer, as UF is my top 1 on my list.

I live in S. FL and received my mail today. Saw that the mail was very thin, knew it was no good. And I was right, I was rejected.

I hope everyone's wishes and goals will soon come true. Whatever the result may be, always remember everything happens for a reason. My boyfriend of 4 years will start his medical residency in Boston this summer, hence the reason why I applied to Boston. I made myself a deal that if UF magically accepts me then I would sacrifice and choose UF since it has always been a dream of mine to call myself a Gator. If UF had accepted me, my relationship may not have a happy ending after all. Like I said, everything happens for a reason. Stay strong everyone.

I will be heading to Boston in two weeks as I will start taking classes in July. I wish everyone well and best of luck.

Happy posting.

Hi all, I haven't gotten anything in the mail either :/ Are there any current UF students who have gotten their letter yet?

I'm a current UF student and I found out today I was placed on the wait list. I have never heard of there being a wait list so I assumed my very thin letter was a no. Any idea how the wait list works? I know others that go to UF that got their letters today and were denied.

Hi everyone! Best wishes with the letters coming this week! Did anyone take epidemiology? It's recommended on the website, and I was wondering if you think that having taken it would be a boost up in the decision process. Thanks!

@jaguars91: messaging won't work for me.

"We apologize for the inconvenience but sending a Private Message is disabled for all members who have not actively participated on the site. Members are required to have a minimum of 15 quality topics in order to use our Private Messaging (PM) System."

You can e-mail me if you'd like: [email protected]

@everyone: Did anyone in this thread get into the program?

I got my rejection letter today, :/ It really sucks that I was the speaker at my commencement ceremony at my CC and was rejected...In the future there seriously needs to be a way to allow more students into these "limited" programs, because who knows how many talented and bright students were turned away.... I hope that one day, students who wish to become nurses will not be judged by the three digit grade point average assigned to students. Numbers enslave people, while experiences empower people. Let us all be people who are empowered by experiences, because, at the end of the day, experiences are what make exceptional nurses.

Not Numbers.

@ cpimentel: Good luck to you too! && nice call with the icecream =)

@ affinity: Well said =) couldn't have said it better myself

hopeful5; if you don't mind me asking, what were your stats like? (ie gpa...) & was the letter sent to your home address? or apt in gainesville? I am still anxiously waiting...

Don't worry Gatorgirl28, I am also still waiting.

still waiting too...

Oh I don't mind :) I'm already a UF student and my overall was 3.68 and my nursing was 3.72. Mine came to my home, but who knows there may be one sitting in my apartment mailbox too haha

I have no idea how the wait list works or what my chances are now, but I'm staying optimistic for now.

Okay thanks for sharing. And that's good, im sure you'll get in! =] I know a girl who was wait listed in previous years, but was admitted right before fall began, so have faith! :)
