USF Fall 2012
Taytay and Samiam, Thank you so much for your advice! To be honest, I love helping people, and nursing is something that I wanted at one point. I switched my major from nursing to English because I loved to write, and my parents persuaded me to switch back to nursing because of the stable job outlook. There are many reasons that I wanted nursing, but it's time for me to let go . Perhaps this isn't my calling, and there's something better out there for me in the field I'm more talented in, and where GPA isn't a deciding factor . As much as it hurt to work this hard and get denied, is as much as a reason to put all of my effort into something else that I'm actually good at. Good luck to the rest of you!

USF Fall 2012
I just got my denial email . Im changing my major to mass communications, I'm sick of being judged by my GPA. The tutor who reviewed my essay said it was one of the best USF nursing entrance essays she's ever read. I was the commencement speaker at my community college, I volunteered, and I wrote a very passionate essay. The nursing field obviously doesn't think Im good enough , so I'll go somewhere I'm actually appreciated .

Also , my GPA is a 3.76 and pre req GPA is a 3.56. I feel that I wrote a strong essay, but I'm worried I wont get in :/ I just have to wait, and have faith in God that whatever's best will happen!

UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012
I got my rejection letter today, :/ It really sucks that I was the speaker at my commencement ceremony at my CC and was rejected...In the future there seriously needs to be a way to allow more students into these "limited" programs, because who knows how many talented and bright students were turned away.... I hope that one day, students who wish to become nurses will not be judged by the three digit grade point average assigned to students. Numbers enslave people, while experiences empower people. Let us all be people who are empowered by experiences, because, at the end of the day, experiences are what make exceptional nurses. Not Numbers.

UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012
I originally wasn't planning on writing a comment on here, but after some careful thinking, I decided that I must. As pre-nursing students, we constantly hear how competitive nursing school is, and how our GPAs and Admission essays should be nearly perfect in order for us to be accepted. And while I understand that these are the only ways for nursing schools to consider us as possible further students, I wanted to reassure you all that who we are is not dependent on our acceptance into a program. The admission board wasnt there the nights we stayed up studying for these pre-requisites, or the days we shuddered when we received a B or a C on our transcript because we had the toughest professor on campus . They weren't there, and , I just want you all to know that we are more than a " piece in these games" , and that whatever the result is, we are an exceptional group of people for taking a risk to be accepted into a limited program. Good luck to all :)
