UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012

Hi Guys! I haven't seen any threads for this coming fall semester for UF, so i decided to start one.
I'll start by saying my name is Naomi & I have applied for entry into the GENERIC Fall 2012 BSN program. I'm a Jacksonville, FL native and I am praying for this acceptance so I can get started with nursing school, finish, and start my career. I am super excited because I love Gainesville and UF. I think it is a terrific school, as I have a few friends who attend there. When I applied I had a 3.31 overall GPA, and I'm not quite sure how to calculate my science GPA, (if anyone can help me with that, I'll definitely appreciate it!) but I feel I wrote a great essay, so hopefully along with that and my prayers, I will get accepted. I am already claiming it!
Well, I wish you guys who applied the best of luck and I hope to see you all this coming fall semester. =)
I guess this can be a means of communication for those out there with any questions or comments regarding the application/review process, or anything else you're curious to know.

I applied to UF for fall 2012 as well. :) I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to this school, but i know how competitive Nursing school is.I wish you the best. :)

Yes, it is very competitive.. especially @ UF.. so I've heard.. but I'm continuing to have faith.. I wish you the best as well.. Thanks!

Hello, I applied to the fall '12 program as well. Not really sure how I'm feeling at this point though. I kinda feel like it'll be a long shot for me. As exciting as UF would be to get into, I rather stay down in Miami. I just wanted to feel like I had some options lol

Hello! I also applied and am from Jacksonville as well. Any word on when we're supposed to hear back for decisions? From my research, it seems to be mid to late June.

Hey there! I believe we are supposed to hear back around that time as well. I wish it weren't so late. Idk what they expect us to do about housing being that it is so late everything will pretty much be taken by then. All of the good places anyway.

Yesi, options are always good. I thought my reply to your post was posted here last week.. I guess not. Anyway, optimism and prayer (if you believe in it) is key.. Anything is possible! I believe that God will put me where he wants me.. Regardless as to where it is, I'm fine with that. I have already put down a deposit and signed a lease at University House on 13th street so right about now I'm just going off of faith.. But good luck to you as well. Keep us updated!

Okay, thanks! Yes, housing might be an issue for me as well. Although, I have heard from a good friend at UF that it is not that hard to find a decent place :). As you probably already know, UF receives an amazingly large amount of applications and I suppose it takes them that long to review them carefully. On the bright side, at least they do not rush through them! To say that I am anxious would be an understatement!

Have you applied anywhere else?

To calculate your "science gpa", you calculate the gpa of your major science prerequisites (usually AP1, AP2, Micro, Chem, Psychology or Sociology, Nutrition).

Jaguar, sorry im so late.. but when I went down to Gainesville a few weeks ago to check out some places many of them were almost completely out of rooms.. the place I went to on 13th street (University House) was 98% occupied and I only had two choices of roomates to choose out of lol a few other places i visited were over halfway full and im thinking to myself if they are over 50% occupied NOW.. heaven only knows what they will be come june/july.. Maybe its just the places that are close to the school. I didn't want to have to drive a long way to get to class.

Also, yes, I also applied to UCF as well. I believe I should be hearing something from them by tomorrow (hopefully). Thanks for the tip on calculating your science GPA.. I tried something like that but I wasn't sure if I was doing it right..

Have you applied to any other schools?

Hi everyone,

I have also applied for the Nursing Program for 2012. I starting to get extremely anxious! This wait is horrible.. but I guess it will be all worth it, as long as I get in. :)

Housing is another issue. I have already started looking and like Naomi said, most of the places are full. :/

Gods willing that I can find a place and put a deposit down too. Although, if I am not admitted into the school I hope that I will be able to get my money back to put down for another apartment.
