Undergraduate thesis useful for student interested in pursuing CNM program?
I'm currently a second semester Junior in a BSN program. Recently the director of the honors college at my university came into one of my lecture classes to speak about a program called Honors in the Major. This program requires students to write an undergraduate thesis to graduate with honors from the College of Nursing. My question is, will doing this help me get into grad school after I have some work experience? I have been told that the main benefit of writing the thesis is in setting you apart from other candidates in a job interview after graduation. The school that I am at doesn't have a CNM program or any professors currently working on maternal/infant research so I was told that my paper would be a review of literature style paper if I wanted to choose something maternal/infant related (which I would). Thoughts and suggestions? Should I go for it and take the honors course or would my time be better served trying to get a nursing assistant job in a women's hospital in order to give myself a better chance of employment in that area after graduation? Thanks for the advice.

msfrance! I don't know if you're still reading this but I think I was in your interview group! I remember you talking about how you sewed the shirt you were wearing and I thought that it was so original and was great that you showed your personality! haha apologies if I seem creepy for coming in so late but I was excited to find someone from my group here :). I was the one sitting across the table from the four of you!

Does anyone know how the breakdown goes for them to calculate a decision after interviews? I remember at one of the information sessions they gave us a formula saying that before interviews it's: 50% TEAS score 50% GPA but they redo the formula to include the interview for the final decision, and I didn't write it down! Just curious, thanks to anyone with any insight!

UF 2013 BSN applicants?
Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself and say good luck to all! It's nice to know that we have a little place here to wait/ask questions and talk together :) I go back and forth between my top 2 schools but I would be a transfer to UF. I have a 3.5 cumulative gpa and my prereq gpa is a 3.8 so I don't really know what to think about my chances here. Is there a place on the application for experience/volunteering? :) That sounds like it would be great for many of us!

UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012
Hi everyone! Best wishes with the letters coming this week! Did anyone take epidemiology? It's recommended on the website, and I was wondering if you think that having taken it would be a boost up in the decision process. Thanks!

UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012
Hi everyone! I will be applying to nursing schools next year and I read this page out of curiosity. When you guys are talking about GPAs are you talking about cumulative or prereq? my prereq GPA is a 4.0 but my cumulative is a 3.8 so I don't really know what my chances are. I would also be a transfer to UF so I understand that that significantly decreases my chances but hey, a girl can dream and work hard, right? :)
