UF accelerated BSN 2021

Hey everybody! Anyone applying for the above mentioned program? I haven't had luck finding any threads, in regard to this, for that specific year. I would like to find people who are so we can keep in touch through this process.

Hey everyone!

I just read (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) email about taking the HESI only 1 time now. Has anyone used a prep course for the HESI that they recommend?

I just took the HESI today. I scored an 85. I used the HESI assessment guide to study, Kahn Academy and Crash Course videos, and the Pocket Prep app. I have taken the TEAS, too, (I scored an 88 on that). I felt like the HESI was more difficult than the TEAS. I also felt like there wasn't much on the HESI that was in the assessment book. In other words, I suggest using various methods to study. I felt well prepared for the test because of studying, and because I've been studying this information for years. The questions on the exam are nothing like the assessment book, though.

Hello, I might be applying to the program but there are long essay questions like you said. Please can someone screenshot the type of essay questions asked or give me an idea?

I've already submitted my application, but they ask things like "how do you go about accessing and retrieving stored information", "how do you show others that you care about them with out compromising the needs and wants of others", etc.

Specializes in BAS,.

I agree with how @JTwin01 the HESI was more difficult to me as well and the study book was only a sliver of help.

Whats the name of the assessment guide you used?

Elsevier's HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review Edition 4

@JTwin01 What would you say was the hardest subject on the HESI? And were the questions similar to the ones on the pocket prep app?

For me, I guess it was biology since I scored a 76. I felt like a lot of the questions in this section were not in any of the things I reviewed. One question asked where the slide went on a microscope. I knew this from when I took Microbiology in 2015, but it was never in any of the review info. The app and book were enough to help, but I think that doing well in those classes, overall, helped. I scored really well in math, reading comprehension, grammar, and A&P. I studied my butt off for the math because, historically, I've had trouble with math, but I got an 88 in that section. I would definitely focus on the subjects that you know that you don't always do well in.

Hey everyone I'm applying to UF ABSN 21 as well! I'm a little nervous because I don't have many patient care hours and I was told they look for that. My GPA is a 3.7. I still haven't taken the HESI yet so I'm freaking out about that considering this is all due in like 20 days (!!) But I still haven't been "accepted" to UF the school yet, is that going to be an issue?

Did you already complete your application to UF? I have no patient care hours either. I've seen, in years past, where people with no patient care hours get in. I'm sure that they expect that from some of us. They look at the application holistically, so I don't think there is an emphasis on prior patient care experience. I would definitely get started on it soon. I've seen where people say that they've had NursingCAS kick back applications turned in at the deadline because it was missing some things. Then that person had no time to fix those things and get the app back in in time.

Yes, I'm in the middle of it now, probably around 75% done at this point! Glad to hear the lack of patient care isn't going to make a huge difference in my app! Do you know if I put Gainesville as my campus, would I be considers for Jax too?

No. I think there is an option to choose both campuses or maybe no preference.

Hello,

For those who have taken the HESI through ProctorU can you use scratch paper and a calculator for the math section?
