Hey everybody! Anyone applying for the above mentioned program? I haven't had luck finding any threads, in regard to this, for that specific year. I would like to find people who are so we can keep in touch through this process.

we definitely won’t hear anything this weekend. I’d like to think we’d hear something before next Friday, but don’t know. ------------------ or --------------------------- will respond to someone’s email Monday I’m sure and maybe give us a better idea. Next Friday would no longer me early March. Next week is pushing mid March already as it is.

Hi everyone, Ken from UF CON here..

Although I do monitor these threads from time to time I don't normally comment on them. Normally if anyone needs to get a hold of me they can do so pretty easily through email. However, I know everyone's waiting on decisions so I figured I'd jump on and chime in.

My plan had been to have decisions out today but obviously that has not happened.  As I indicated to anyone who emailed me, while Friday was my plan at the end of the day t's not event up to me when decisions are released. I know everyone is anxious to recieve their decisions just as soon as possible. Rest assured that as soon as I am given the go ahead to release decisions I will do so.

And no, that doesn't necessarily mean waiting until a Friday to do so.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's patience.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.

Hi! Does anyone know what the program start date is? Or is it just general timeline of May? Trying to look online but might be looking in wrong place. Thanks!

Hello everyone! I see that this chat went completely off the radar once we got a message from Ken?

Massive thank you to Ken for updating us and taking the time to post the information, reading his message calmed me down a little. So thank you, Ken! And I truly hope we will hear the final decisions this week. I'm sure all of us are beyond stressed right now.

A little off-topic question. Has anyone done any research on housing? Does anyone from the current students can suggest anything? If I get accepted, I will be moving with 2 kids, and I will need a bigger space. I would be happy to hear anything rent/housing-related, any advice is highly appreciated!

Have a good day, everyone!

I lived in Gainesville for thirteen years, and the area for eighteen years. There are houses that you can find in the area and apartments. Having two kids (just like me) I would try to find something that isn't as close to downtown or Archer Road, because it is a lot more students in those areas and, therefore, a lot more parties and noise (IDK how it is now that we have to deal with  COVID.). My family is still there and they hate to deal with Archer Road. They live on the NW side of town. If I get accepted into the program, I would look for housing in the NW, too. Then, you would travel down 13th street every day. While you would still hit traffic, it wouldn't be as bad as Archer Road.

You can also find housing in places like Archer or Alachua, but then you will be traveling. Archer and Tower Road has houses and apartments and there is a good elementary school on Tower Road.

Hope this helps! ?

Hi Elizaveta! I cannot speak much on jacksonville, but I am currently living in Gainesville. Feel free to inbox me.

There's lots of good housing around here (in my opinion) and public transportation and commutability is also very  nice (if that is your vibe). I do think there is a perfect spot for everyone here since there are so many different types of neighborhoods and housing options. Some are more geared towards undergrad students, some towards graduate/professional, and some towards families, etc. If you have kids I'd personally stay a little further from the undergrad housing just because it could get noisy.

Check out places around Archer Rd, South of 16th avenue, east of 13th. I would personally stay away from stuff north of university just because that is where lots of undergrad stuff happens and bars are, so again the noise.

Again feel free to message me abt gainesville housing ? I've been here for almost 6 years

^^Agree to archer road traffic ? it's horrendous! I've found myself sitting in traffic for an hour trying to travel 1.5 miles if I catch myself leaving at the wrong time.
