Hey everybody! Anyone applying for the above mentioned program? I haven't had luck finding any threads, in regard to this, for that specific year. I would like to find people who are so we can keep in touch through this process.
Just wanted to add my two cents as someone who graduated from the program a couple of years ago (Jax cohort.) Back then, we were only the second cohort in Jax and there were many kinks that hadn't been ironed out, leading to a number of frustrations. Keep in mind that you will find such issues everywhere, as no program is perfect.
However, I feel that having attended UF has absolutely put me on the track for a successful career. Firstly, your clinical experiences will be very strong. You will never feel fully prepared fresh out of school but the clinicals through UF taught me so much. Secondly, myself and many other students in the class had jobs lined up at UF Health upon graduation. (I am not sure if they are still doing that, but regardless, having done your clinicals at that hospital I think helps you get your foot in the door and make connections.) Meanwhile, I hear of students from other programs either struggling to find that first RN job after graduation due to lack of experience or not being able to get their foot in the door at a hospital if that's the type of facility they want to start out at. After being with UF for a year, I was easily able to get a job at another academic health center in a different part of the state. So, whether you attend UF or another program, I encourage you to also think about how your program will help you to get to the next step after graduation.
Good luck to you all and know that you are about to embark on an amazing career!
I didn’t even know this thread existed. I was looking at the smaller threads. Is anyone ridiculously nervous? I only applied to UF and the idea of not getting in and having to wait almost a year for another program already has me depressed. This holistic approach is what has me most nervous. My re-calculated GPA is around 3.8 with a 95 overall on my HESI and all A’s on my pre-requisites. But my undergraduate degree in in Secondary Math Education and I’ve spent the last 8 years teaching high school. I also have an MBA from UF and that GPA is only a 3.01 (which I heard they don’t consider that GPA). I explained in the essays that as a single mom, I became a teacher because it was the best fit for my family, but now that my children are in MS and HS, I can chase my own dreams. My biggest fear is that I have no prior medical experience. I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up to have it be the end of February. Anyone else in the same boat as me?
Hi again ?
I know decisions haven't been released yet (and that they plan to be dished out end of feb/early march) but I am wondering if anyone know typically the date by which we need to agree to enroll in the program? Or the deadline to accept the admissions offer? Like April or march?
Just curious because I am applying to a few other programs and they all have different start dates, so I am trying to create some sort of organization for myself haha

I was wondering the same thing. I applied to UMASS and they don't even let us know about acceptance until mid March/early April.

Keep in mind our schedules look different than normal because we were 100% online due to COVID, and currently only have skills/sim/clinicals in person while lectures are via zoom. Semester 1 we had lecture 3 days a week (4 classes total), each class was about 2 1/2-3 hrs long, and then we had exams on Fridays. Semester 2 we had lecture 3-4 days a week (5 classes), for about 2-3 hours each, and an exam every Monday. We also had a 3 week lecture/exam break in the middle of this semester that was dedicated to in-person skills and clinical rotations (COVID precaution, this is not normal). Semester 3 we have lecture 2 days a week for 2-3 hrs each, and 1-2 days of clinical rotations (6-7 hrs each).
You can look on CON's website for syllabi and schedules from current & past semesters if you're curious.
Thank you so much!! I looked up the schedule and it helps so much to see what to get ready for if I get accepted. Many thanks!!

I would think around the 26th. The last two years they release decisions the last Friday of February. However, it may be different this year.
Hi everyone! I am a current student in Jax. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Expect decisions on Feb 26 AFTER 5 pm. They do it on purpose so that they aren't in the office. One of the professors explained the admission process to me and it is VERY holistic. There is a rubric for every item you submit and you are scored for each item till you have a final total. All the totals are put into a spreadsheet and whoever is above the cutoff line for how many they can admit are admitted. While this program can be frustrating and disorganized, I think almost all nursing programs are like that especially with COVID. I wouldn't change where I went at all as employers want to hire UF nurses, and we have AMAZING clinical experiences compared to the other schools in the area. Best of luck everyone!!

Wow thanks for the insight!

Thanks for the info! I’m not sure if this makes me feel better or worse. ? Do you know how it works for campuses? Is there a list for Jax and a list for Gainesville.

I am not sure! They didn't go into detail about that. Both campuses have their pros and cons honestly.
