UF accelerated BSN Summer 2019

Hello!

It's only May but I am already working on getting my ducks in a row for the Post-bacc application. I thought it would be nice to start a thread so applicants can support each other through the process! I know I have a million questions already and I am trying hard not to pester admissions.

I am so excited to be almost done with my prerequisites and I am looking forward to finally applying this Fall!

I would love to hear about everyone's background, projects, questions, and hopefully we can help each other out.

Good luck to all! We got this!

can you explain a little more about the link that students receive after submitting their application?? will all applicants receive a link for an assessment?

Thanks!!

From last year's thread, it looks like qualifying applicants received a link to an online personality assessment. I think if you receive a link it's a good sign that your application is complete. I just always have this nagging feeling that something is missing from my application so if I get the link, it will put those worries to rest.

There's a bunch of info about the link in last year's thread!

At least that's my understanding.

I did not submit a cover letter. But that's just me? What did everyone else do?

A cover letter is not needed as far as I know. They're just asking for a resume/cv

Hello everyone, can you all give me some ideas about number ten and what specifically they are asking for ?

Seems like something specific and not just about in general how I study

Thx!

I answered it describing the various ways i study and how i retain information the best. but i feel like there are so many ways these questions can be answered! just be honest with whatever answer you think portrays you best!

hope that helps!

I interpreted the question as an opportunity to show that i know how to study effectively, that I'm organized and efficient. If you think about it in the context of a demanding accelerated program, it's asking what successful study habits are going to help you navigate the gigantic amount of information they're going to throw at us.

I'm a current student in UF college of nursing, and I remember about this time last year I was planning and evaluating all I needed to do to get in. From my understanding, our cohort was the first to be holistically selected. The cohort before us who are about to graduate said that they were chosen almost strictly on GPA and maybe past experience. They wrote maybe one or two essays and that was it. We wrote about 10 mini-essays, took a personality test, and sent in letters of recommendation. If they keep this same selection method, my opinion is that you should show high emotional intelligence and genuine caring for people in your essays. Don't make the essays an exercise in self-glorification; of course strut your stuff some, but make caring at the center of concern. I do not think the professors or deans read the essays, but a panel of non-nursing citizens are chosen to read the essays.

Good luck guys! I hope to pop in every so often to see how you guys are progressing, but I cannot promise I will check in much, as I am currently breathing, eating, and living everything nursing.

thank you so much for sharing this!!! i hope nursing school is treating you well! (:

I submitted mine already.

I think I did Times New Roman, size 12, double spaced? Or 1.5. I forget. Heading with numbered pages and my name. Just super standard stuff, no frills.

And good luck to you too :)
