UCSF New RN Grad Training Program 2014

Published

Hello, everyone! UCSF opened a couple of new RN Training Program for January 2014. Just wanted to start a thread. Did anyone else thought the application was abnormally short? I only attached a resume. Did you attach anything else? Good luck!

Any advice on what the interview process for this UCSF 2014 new grad training program is like would be greatly appreciated.

Just had my interview with ucsf for the ICN. I am not sure how it went. Don't think I did great:( had over 100 apps forwarded to them 25 interviews for 4-6 spots.[/quote']

Hi kiwisweeetiee!!

I know how you feel. I had my interview yesterday too and I feel like it could have gone a lot better. But seriously we are so lucky to even have gotten interviews and we need to just keep staying positive. The absolute worst part is that now we have to wait until the end of the year...

Hello Nurses! Has anyone heard from L&D?

pem17... how long was your interview? i feel like mine was short. I hate that we have to wait so long to find out.

The first group was about 25 mins and the second just with the manager was about 15 I would say. What about you?

Hello Nurses! Has anyone heard from L&D?

L&D unit starts interviewing today until next week.

Hey everyone! Any other PICU hopefuls out there?

Specializes in MICU.

Hey there!

I am a senior nursing student in Notre Dame, Indiana. I was wondering if any of y'all have an idea if there is a summer 2014 program. I am graduating in May. Therefore, I'll be taking my boards in the summer (probably around June/July). I would be applying to an intensive care unit, as that is where I was at in my internship this summer. Thanks!

anyone heard from the adult units?

Hi all... I didn't apply to UCSF's new grad program, but I find it very discouraging that they only let you apply to units where you did your preceptorship. My school had such a tough time finding a placement for me. I requested a step-down unit or telemetry but I didn't get it... and now I can't even work there because of it? Seems unfair - but I guess that's how life is.

I did my preceptorship on a medical/surgical/orthopedic/spine unit. I was wondering if you all know whether I will I be able to apply to ONLY orthopedic units or will I at least be considered for all med-surg units? Thanks in advance. And good luck to you all who applied for the program!

nurseemtay: I'm not sure if they'll have a summer program. They didn't have one this year.

sunnies14: Nothing here yet. :( I applied for all their med/surg positions. Which ones did you apply to?

Iheartnursing03: Good for you! I think since your preceptorship was so diverse, you'd be able to apply for any of those that opens up. Med/surg; Medical; Surgical; Orthopedic; and maybe Neuro for spine? :) The challenge is getting the recruiter to forward your resume. Then getting the managers to call you in for the interview. But at least your experience should open up more doors for you!

I was emailed this morning by the nurse manager of the neurology/neurosurgery unit, and we scheduled an interview for next week. I did my senior preceptorship in neuroscience critical care.

Any advice on the UCSF interviewing process would be greatly appreciated!! Are they mostly behavioral questions? How many people are usually on the interview panel? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer! Neuro is my passion in nursing, this is my dream job and I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to interview.
