UCSF New Grad Program 2023 Questions

Updated:   Published

Hello all,

I am at the last semester of the ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. I'm expecting to graduate in early Jan and plan to take the NCLEX early Feb and no later than late Feb. I would like to know the timeline for applying to UCSF's nursing new grad Spring program 2023. Any past experiences with UCSF to share will be greatly appreciated.

Gawddd I am done with interview! I loveddd them! UCSF is such a great organization and everyone was so heartwarming.

Overall the interview really went smooth and the director mentioned that there are 3 units participating (yeah panel of 9) due to their interest. So there can multiple departments fighting for you and that's a definitely a good sign! So do not be afraid ?

I did it so can you! I am sending positive energy to everyone here! I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you at UCSF!

Sounds like you had a great experience! Hope everything goes well with you:) Did they mention when they would let you know of acceptance/denial by?

I just got the skills survey thing sent.

Anyone who's done this before help out please. Does your senior preceptor count as a reference? Or nursing school clinical faculty? Or they want 2 direct managers and then one other one.

From previous experiences, they do accept preceptors, faculty, and clinical instructors since they're the closest to your clinical performance. However, other facilities will request old managers if they really need it. Most of them have used that same language such as "2 direct managers". Just send a message to HR for clarification or extension!

Hi,

how long did it take for them to send you the request for references after your interview? Hope you don't mind me asking.

I was definitely nervous. There were 4 interviewers and 3 other candidates. We got to introduce ourselves, 3-4 behavioral questions, and one clinical question. I never feel good about these kind of things. Hoping that I did well.  ?

Has anyone gotten a call/email for a department they did not submit interest for? Would it be smart to still interview? or let them know now?

Congrats for completing your interview! I am sure it was super nerve wrecking environment interviewing with other candidates while having multiple panels. But I am sure you did well! and wish you the best of luck!

I think it is up to your preference. But from my perspective, if I am being interviewed for a different department that is like completely unrelated to my interest, I would probably not interview for the position. But that's what I prefer only because I would like to give other candidates who are willing to take that spot a chance instead of me wasting it
