UCSF MEPN 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, I just wanted to start this new topic for those like myself who are interested in applying to the MEPN program for the 2020 cohort.

It looks like applications will open on July 1, deadline is September 4. Anyone prepping yet for applications? These are so nerve-wracking! ?

Hi! I just started looking into it but am nervous about it! What program are you applying to @kmd1005?

Hi @NMtobe! I'm looking to apply for the Adult-Gero Primary Care NP specialty (emphasizing on Occupational and Environmental Health). Application will be opening tomorrow (eep!). What about yourself? What's the program you're looking into applying to?

Hi all! So excited to have found this thread for MEPN 2020. The application is now open- super anxious to get started. I am trying to decide between Adult Gero NP or FNP, both interest me, so I will have to narrow it down to one I really want.

I have been employed at Stanford Healthcare for about 14 years and have worked in several positions to build a strong knowledge about patient care etc.

I am excited to follow everyone's journey and stay connected via here.

Thanks,
Dee

Hello Everyone, I am so excited to see this thread. I started my application process yesterday and cannot wait to see what this journey brings. I will be applying to the MEPN NP/CNM program. This is the midwifery program! ?

Looking forward to staying connected! Best of luck everyone!

Best regards,

Karen

Hey everyone!

So glad to see a thread set up because UCSF is my first choice school. I'm planning to apply to FNP but am considering AGPCNP since FNP is notoriously competitive. I have connections with professors from the school, so I'm looking forward to giving my best shot. Good luck to all of us!

Hi all!

Like Karen, I'm applying to CNM/WHNP, inspired by the nurse-midwives I've seen in the hospitals I labor coach at (and also "Call the Midwife" on Netflix ? ).

I've been working on my statements and gathering my letters of rec these few months and definitely feel the excitement/anxiety/anticipation of application cycle! Super glad for this online community to talk about this process.

Hi @StanfordBee @KaZarr @Raverlane @ilee6 @NMtobe! Welcome to the 2020 cohort thread!

I've just finished adding all of my pre-requisites in the application. It's quite tedious (especially given all of the courses we need to have), but it is what it is haha. I haven't had to fill out college applications in some time but I always find the statements section to be the most ardous, just because I want to make sure this part is perfect lol. So I'm creating outlines for the personal statements/goal statements. While I have a lot i'd like to share in these statements, I also need to organize my thoughts for these sections when they come up - definitely don't want to ramble on (thank goodness for proofreading and spell-checks, right?)

Anyway, we got this, guys! Good luck to all!

Hi everyone. I've been working on my UCSF apps this week and it's definitely nerve-racking! UCSF is my top choice and I can't remember the last time I wanted something this badly.

I've basically filled out everything on the app except anything that requires writing and only started brainstorming what to write today. This is the hardest part! Does anyone else know how they're differentiating the goal and personal statements? They seem like they will overlap.

Anyways, I'm applying to the Psychiatric/Mental Health NP program. It feels good seeing other applicants embarking on this journey with me. Good luck to all!

Hi everyone,

About the goal statement, the instructions ask to "include your name at the top." Does anyone know if there's a specific format that this should be written in?

Also, does anyone know if there are any font specifications? My goal statement is written in 12 pt font in Times New Roman and ends up being slightly below two pages.

Thanks!

@Raverlane I also go by that "12 pt font, times new roman, double-spaced" format too since it's what we've all used when writing papers and essays, but i also went ahead and sent an email to Sergio Saenz and Steven Johnson. Hopefully i get a response soon and i'll post here ?
