Hello!
I know this is a bit early, but I'm planning to apply to the apply to the UCSF MEPN program (among a few others) this summer/fall. I've seen similar forums for past application periods, and thought it might be nice to get one started so we can start to bounce ideas and questions off each other.
Has anyone been to an open house? Any information worth sharing?
Wow. Did anyone else apply to Seattle U? I just got an email asking me to interview in four days.... and I live across the country. Talk about unorganized. I'm going to have to tell them I can't interview I suppose, but I'm not too bent out of shape about it considering how this makes them look. I got at least a month's notice with all other programs that do interviews. Even phone interviews, I had 2-3 weeks notice!
Yes Seattle does do phone interviews, and yes they are incredibly unorganized. I am currently trying to arrange a phone interview, but their lack of communication is not scoring them any points! I've already been accepted to another program, so honestly at this point I don't have much motivation to pursue them anymore. But I would definitely inquire about a phone interview (they also told me there is an option on the online sign-up form to indicate a phone interview).
fpjc and sml14, great to know. I really don't even think I'm going to bother with them then. I've gotten into Columbia and MGH at this point, I don't see the point in wasting my time trying to get them to communicate. Just wish I hadn't even wasted the money to apply, I can't believe they expected me to make it in 4 days! That's ridiculous even if you're living in Seattle. Not worth it!
I agree - even though I know a lot of people do phone interviews (and get in), 4 days is still not much time. They seem to have totally dropped the ball in communicating with me. I applied because I wanted it as a backup in case I didn't get in elsewhere, but since I've gotten into Vanderbilt I would easily choose that over Seattle. Congrats on your acceptances, btw!
Didn't get in either :/
To those of you who didn't get in but had your hearts set on UCSF, pretty much everyone I've talked to who has gone there has said they had to apply more than once. I have heard this more so for UCSF than other programs, so even if you didn't get in, there is probably still a good chance you could get in next try. I think they really want to see that you are committed, so it seems like it's almost a requirement to have applied before
Hang in there friends! You all have amazing options to choose from, even if UCSF is not in the mix anymore. Their program is really small, which is why they can't choose everyone who was called for an interview even though every single person who interviewed is an amazing candidate.
What are your guys' top choices now? I am still debating about all of this so would love to hear your guys' thoughts on the matter of choosing :)
khahaNP2016 I'm in for peds as well! I can't believe we have to decide by feb 26....that's no time at all. I had a trip planned to Columbia for accepted students day in March (bought plane tickets yesterday), and I'm still waiting to hear back from Yale. I am so torn! I didn't have any as my TOP top, but now I want to to them all and I might not get in to Yale!
Congrats to all who were accepted! I feel for you all who weren't, I was rejected from OHSU (another one of my top choices) and took it hard. There will be a school for you!!

@emara9 - Seattle U is the most unorganized program I've encountered. This also happened last year, and they had to allow candidates to interview via skype. I would give them a call and let them know the situation. I'm almost positive they will allow you to do a video/phone interview.
