Hey everyone! Given that applications are due a month from today, I figured it was about time to start a thread. How are everyone's personal statements and applications coming?
CNA, LVN, medical assists.... all experience that is more relevant than volunteering and or working indirectly with nurses/NPs. I'm assuming many of the people who got interviews were older as well, considering the experience preference. I've been volunteering in health care for more than 4 years, have been working as a clinical research coordinator under the direct supervision of an NP for over 2 years, have co-authored three publications and presented at the APHA poster sessions on elder abuse in long term care facilities. The only thing that could have been better were my GRE scores but they said that probably wouldn't have made the difference. I'm not sure I will reapply next year, or I should say I hope I'm in a program before then. I did interview at Penn and the person I interviewed with there said she was impressed with my experience so it's UCSF's loss. Thanks for the words of encouragement though!!! =)
Has anyone gotten the details for their interview? I received the initial letter stating I had an interview (and the date); it said they would send me more info regarding the interview.
I need to book a flight but am hesitant to do so without "more info".
Anyone know anything as to if they will help you with travel expenses to go there? Also, what the "more information" might entail?
Thanks!
Hello all, late to join the conversation but I've definitely shared in the anxiety through this process. I'll be interviewing for the Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP specialty. The email with details about the interview day came this afternoon. I look forward to meeting fellow candidates on January 31st (am). I'll be making the long drive up from the Central Valley. I wish everyone traveling a very safe trip and the very best of luck!
For those of you who got an interview, congrats! I'm helping plan an informal meet and greet for you guys and encourage you to RSVP to the e-mail you should've received with details. I found it to be pretty helpful, especially in terms of housing and a bit of what to expect for the year from actual student's perspective.
Marsharabbit, you're pretty much on your own in terms of lodging and accommodations for the interview. More information means they'll let you know where you'll need to be and the time for your actual interview. At least they should have lunch for you...at least they did for us last year. You're pretty much guaranteed not to see any current MEPNs around during interview days either because we'll all be in clinical sites.

Samdaman,
I responded with an email asking to change...? I have a bad feeling I won't get a response. Were you in the same boat?!
