Hey everyone! Given that applications are due a month from today, I figured it was about time to start a thread. How are everyone's personal statements and applications coming?

Hopefully your received SJ's email about this mix up. We will be receiving a package soon via USPS with instructions on how to log in to myaccess to fill out the necessary financial aid info, so just hold tight until it comes :).

There are several current MEPNs that have kids. It clearly is doable, but tricky if you have very young children.

It may be helpful to be proactive with SON leadership to find ways to pick clinical sites that are not super far away.

Regarding preparing for summer quarter:

Answer 1: Refresh your A&P, go to library and read pharmacology, review med terminology

Answer 2: Relax, make good use of free time, spend time with friends and family, exercise.

My recommendation is the second option. There will be plenty of time to study as school starts...

The summer is quite packed, it likely may not be possible to fit many shifts on those weekends. However, I believe you will find it is more doable during Fall and onwards. Much will depend on how flexible your employer and work hours are. Also, you can try fit in more work days in-between quarters, and during holiday breaks.

Hi kdiem,

do you feel like there are any common threads that all the accepted applicants have? I'm trying to figure out if there are any aspects of my application i should emphasize. I have a lot of international experience but did poorly on the gre math portion.

When I spoke to the admissions guy, he said that the people that are accepted tend to either have public health degrees or are CNAs with plenty of experience in healthcare.

I was rejected because I'm already in a nursing program and did not "articulate enough" why I wanted to be a NP over a BSN nurse. /rolls eyes. I may reapply to their traditional MSN program unless I decide to go the CRNA route and get some critical care experience.

Just saying that's what the admissions rep told me, though.

Hey there, I know this post was really old but if you are still on here I'd love your input. I want to apply to the CNM program as well but I'm struggling wit how to find birthing experience. By the time I apply I will have 1.5 years of work as a clinic assistant alongside NPs at planned parenthood, but this is more WHNP stuff rather than midwifery. How did you and others in your program get labor and delivery experience before the program? I've even looked into CNA jobs but it seems like you don't get to observe much birthing.
