Hi,
Is there anyone lurking who is planning to apply to the 2011 program?
I have spent the last 12 years in financial marketing/communications and am excited to try and change paths into nursing. I am currently taking my prerequisite courses at city college- stats and anatomy/physiology- and going in for the GRE Saturday. I'm volunteering at a children's hospital, which is causing me to consider the pediatric nurse practitioner track... I know UCSF is very competitive and it's a long-shot for someone like me to get in, but I feel like I have to try! If it doesn't happen next year, then I'll just keep building my volunteer experience and re-apply. Also on my mind is that if for some miracle I were to get in how I would pay for it.
But enough about me... what are some other candidates' takes on preperation, interests, anxieties, etc?
Thanks, mrmarksf! It's just so nerve-wracking that I've heard nothing at all...
Hi Kate-
Check your (physical) mail because from reading other's posts, those that were accepted or denied were directed to an online email, but those waitlisted (such as myself) were sent a physical letter via snail-mail.

Hey everyone! I have been following this forum for a while and finally decided to post. I also got the decision email last Wednesday, 2/23, like a lot of people seem to have--I am IN for Peds!! I saw a couple of other people have also posted that they've been accepted for Peds. Also, I am wondering how many other males are out there? Anyway, I look forward to meeting and working with everyone, and Congratulations!
Hi mrmarksf, Congratulations on your acceptance! I also was accepted to peds and am also a male. Not sure how many other males are in peds or the MEPN cohort. I guess we willl see in June!
Hello all!
I've been reading through this post and finally decided to chime in. I received a letter from UCSF notifying me that I have been waitlisted for the MEPN FNP specialty. I'm just hoping I don't have to wait until the week before classes to find out where I stand! Although UCSF is my top choice, I am still waiting to hear from five other schools. As the saying goes: "You never know!"

Miss_mimi, I don't know if this will help, but I did read back through a lot of postings from previous years and it looks like some people make it off of the waitlist fairly soon, since they only give those who have been admitted a short window to accept, and they might decline if they decide they'd rather goto Yale, UW, etc. Good luck!

Thank you, mrmarksf and sgmaygeorge! I've been so skeptical of my entire nursing school admissions experience that I'm even taking the silver lining, or the half-full glass with a grain of salt. I heard that there are 15 slots for FNP and that the deadline for acceptance or denial of an offered slot is March 9th. So I could expect a call anywhere from March 10th up until the week before school?
Thank you for all the luck! I'm going to need it!
wahhhh.just heard that last year's midwifery waitlist moved up 3, year before 4. i'm SO at the border-line. *bites nails*
So - I'm right there with you. I finally got my paper letter... and I am wait-listed as well. I'm in the #2 spot for the adult specialty but apparently no 2nd ANP alternate has gotten in for the past 2 years.
I'm feeling a little crushed for being SO close, yet so far away from acceptance...

Babymidwife1, I would like to join the Facebook group you created; however, since I just joined allnurses, I have not yet made 15 postings, which means I can not yet send you a private message on here. I did, however, put in a request on Facebook to join the group. I would be so appreciative if you could add me! My name is Mark Thomas.
