Hi,
Is there anyone lurking who is planning to apply to the 2011 program?
I have spent the last 12 years in financial marketing/communications and am excited to try and change paths into nursing. I am currently taking my prerequisite courses at city college- stats and anatomy/physiology- and going in for the GRE Saturday. I'm volunteering at a children's hospital, which is causing me to consider the pediatric nurse practitioner track... I know UCSF is very competitive and it's a long-shot for someone like me to get in, but I feel like I have to try! If it doesn't happen next year, then I'll just keep building my volunteer experience and re-apply. Also on my mind is that if for some miracle I were to get in how I would pay for it.
But enough about me... what are some other candidates' takes on preperation, interests, anxieties, etc?
I created a Facebook group for the 2011 group. If people would like to join send me a PM and I'll invite you.
You can also try going here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_184795224890225 but I'm not sure if that works for closed groups.
I'm in for CNM! This was my second year applying :)
I was also accepted to OHSU and now am in the wonderful, yet challenging, place of having to decide between two amazing programs. I have no idea how I'm going to make this decision as they both have aspects that are drawing me. One main issue is that at about 70K, UCSF is a good 40K less than OHSU's program. From the sound of the acceptance letter, we will not be able to find out about financial aid until we have accepted the offer of admissions. Does anyone have any info on financial aid?

Hi Calinursetobe -
When did you get your acceptance letter? I'm just curious because I still haven't heard anything from them and am wondering if they're sending out decisions in batches as some people found out days ago but you just posted about your acceptance. Did you find out today? Thanks and CONGRATS!!!
hello! =)I'm on the waitlist! not as sad as I thought I would be. Does anyone know if we can call the office from time to time to ask about the movement of the waitlist? Or is that discouraged? First time applying!
Hi Tho-
I'm also on the wait list! Also not as sad as I thought I'd be since I was thinking it may just be a rejection based on the fact I didn't receive an email but I got the decision in smail-mail yesterday. I like that they tell you what # on the list you are, but it's kinda scary that they say they could let you know as late as the 3rd week of June...yikes!
Congratulations to all of you who were accepted! That is fantastic and I am so happy for you.
I was unfortunately, denied! I received my denial on Weds Feb 23rd by email also. I wonder if they sent out waitlisted letters by snailmail which were more personal, listing the number on the waitlist. The email I received simply said a decision had been made about my application, and it listed a link to my application page. When I logged in, it said: Application: Denied. Of course, I had been expecting this as I mostly talked gibberish throughout my interview....
Right now my tentative plan is to reapply, taking this year to learn Spanish and sharpen my interview skills!
Again, I wish everyone a wonderful first year at UCSF!
Hey everyone! I have been following this forum for a while and finally decided to post. I also got the decision email last Wednesday, 2/23, like a lot of people seem to have--I am IN for Peds!! I saw a couple of other people have also posted that they've been accepted for Peds. Also, I am wondering how many other males are out there? Anyway, I look forward to meeting and working with everyone, and Congratulations!
Hello - does anyone have a sense of whether UCSF may be sending out notifications by specialty? Have they done this in years past? And most importantly (to me) - Has any ANP applicant heard yet?
thanks!
Kate, That is an interesting question. I am guessing they probably don't send out letters specifically by specialty, since the notifications seemed to go through the Graduate Division office, and not directly from the School of Nursing. However, I don't know for sure. A few weeks ago, I spent a few hours obsessively looking at several years worth of past discussion threads and didn't get the impression that people were finding out at different times based on specialty. However this process works is kind of mysterious to me!
