I also got in on my first application (as well as many of the other admitted students that I've met). I think that there are definitely those that have applied more than once (probably more than potentially any school with a similar program?) just be...

Orangepink, did you ever find a health assessment course?
  3. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Jon! I hear ya. I'm waiting to hear back from the psych student at Yale, so I'll send their response to my questions. I've heard good things about Vandy's program, so you have great options!
  4. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

I feel your pain! I reached out to the friend of a friend and am awaiting a response... I'd confirm both schools as I was easily equally as impressed with each program once I got to spend time around the faculty and get an understanding of clinical p...
  5. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Definitely! I wrote back to get the info, so I'll let you know if I can get connected. I still think the program is great. (I take it all with a grain of salt that sometimes people just don't like change!)

Here is some more from her, she's in adult NP or FNP, I think: ------------- My overall experience is a bit of a mix, and this rings true for just about everyone I know in ANY accelerated program. Your experience will highly depend on the director of...

Thanks for looking that up! I'm convinced it's the prereqs then... because Quinnipiac University (also in CT) is able to have students sit for the RN licensure after just 3 semesters also. They start in the Summer and then do Fall and Spring. It's a ...
  8. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

The University of CT program is spring, summer, fall in a row and allows you to sit for the RN licensure at that time. Yale's is fall, spring, summer in a row and does not allow you to sit for the RN licensure. My understanding is that the quantity o...

I've been giving this a lot of thought also. I actually just heard back from a current student that brought up this very idea and thought I'd share what she wrote. "...I hope I've been helpful, and not a total Debbie Downer! The program is worth it ...
  10. Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

I've heard that the issues is not about the semesters. For example, the University of CT has a direct entry pre licensure program that is only 3 semesters and you can sit for the RN licensure at the end. http://www.nursing.uconn.edu/index.php?option...

I think that the program does have some misgivings. For me one big one is that students don't typically sit for their RN licensure until the second year Spring (or even Summer). This is more than half way through the program, and nearly a year after ...

I got my financial aid package also. There aren't any loans listed (could be because of my EFC though.) Also got a letter that I got a person's name merit scholarship for different amounts each year and guidelines to maintain it.

WilliamsRower, definitely looking forward to meeting the psych director and current students. I've heard really good things about Columbia's psych.

Landed in NYC (for Columbia's day tomorrow) and had a voice mail from Yale-I'm in for psych! Decisions, decisions...

I agree! There are lots of factors for deciding on a school-academic, professional, geographic, personal. People will shuffle around and figure out what's best for them (and their families!) : )
