I thought I would start a new thread. I've read quite a bit of the activity from previous classes and I thought it would be great to get a community of support started for those who have applied for UCSF's MEPN program... not just for us now, but for the future applicants who will read our posts! (: (the added bonus is this thread will be in gender neutral territory
Would love to hear the stories of folks who are applying to nursing programs (UCSF and otherwise).
Thanks!
I also recall the promise of the March 1st postmark date... and here we are...eekk! Maybe the woman on the phone meant they could GET to us as late as the 15th due to mail delays or something?? I hope so. Well, I am going to assume they went out today, and therefore will be stalking the website and the mailbox all week. As soon as someone hears anything, let us know!! And don't forget to fill out your FAFSA by tomorrow!!
OK guys, sorry for not getting back to you sooner... I JUST got back from Penn's Admitted Students Day and trying to decide if I can live so far away in the snow.
So, BAD NEWS. I went to the admissions office on my lunch break last Wednesday and the rumors are TRUE. The lady at the front desk who verified it with some other people in the back told me that decisions will not be ready until MID March. When I mentioned that the dean had told us during the interview day that he would have all decisoin letters postmarked by March 1st she told me that was just an ESTIMATE (which is clealry not how he stated it with the "It is my PROMISE to you" premise.) I then sadly told her that other programs that I was accepted to are requiring me to notify them and put down a deposit sooner than mid March and she empathetically apologized. I was very nice to her and didn't want to be too upset because she went out of her way to go check for me in the back with other administration but I was so upset when I left! And then the next morning I was up at 3am to catch my flight to Philly so I'm sorry about the delay in getting this info to you all. Looks like we have to hang in there a few more weeks
Thank you KellyJH for looking into this.
But WHY ARE THEY TORTURING US!!!!!
I guess I'm lucky in that the one school that requires an answer ASAP (USD) I will not be going to over Columbia, which I have until end of March to give a deposit. I'm more on the needing to plan when to quit my job, move, etc. anxiety track. This sucks.
Is anyone here considering OHSU Accelerated Bachelors to Masters program (for midwifery)? OHSU and UCSF are my top choices and OHSU requires deposit by March 11th. I wanted to see others opinions about the two programs as there isn't much talk about OHSU on allnurses.com. Ahhh....decisions, decisions.

It would be pretty frustrating if they waited until the 15th (and similarly, our group was told the 1st)... deposits at other schools would be a tough thing to lose. ):
